When Carrol is worth just a smidge under Rooney + Vidic then there is no value

When Sigurdsson (the brilliant attacking midfielder who moved from Reading to Hoffenheim) moves for £5 million, you have to ask what we were playing at. Value is there, but if you're too cheap to make a serious effort to find it, then you'll be left with our midfield and the prospect of Chelsea coming from nowhere. Seriously, though, Sigurdsson (first name Gylfi) is amazing but we ignored him. Proper value there.

Rafeal Van Der Vaart, Mesut Oezil and plenty others prove there is value in the market. Its a load of cobblers.

And anyway I dont give a flying one how much players cost these days. tickets cost a ****ing fortune, that money should be going on players no matter how much they cost.

I always feel that way but until Fergie says as such, you can't say a word against them in many fans views. Fergie is doing a great job imo because he's operating with 2 hands behind his back but until he says as such, people will say the owners are fine.

    Agreed.
Also Why Fergie bought Bebe and made no effort to sign Ozil or Van Der Vaart for under 10mil. I will never know.

Can only imagine if we had signed Essien back then....

Instead we went and bought that useless peice of garbage Bebe, thus wasting 4 or so million on a player who hadnt seen the light of top class football. Who buys a thrid division player for 4 million? Wheres the value in that.

About the only positive I can see iss that they don't get involved with silly stunts like gning players that Fergie doesn't wan't (Shevchenko, Robinho etc.)
Or sacking assistants with no warning.

But Fergie can't anything bad about them, He'll be out the door.

Hey, we're on the same page after all lol. I am a huge fan of Ozil and German football in general and Van der Vaart has been brilliant for Spurs. I just think, with Bebe, fergie put faith in Quieroz and Quieroz was off his head on crack at the time. Ridiculous. What it showed was he wanted a new star to break through and wasn't able to do it through mainstream buys which, of course, brings me back to our owners.

    £7 million, Even worse.
Fergie didn't even see him play.
He only bought him because if we didn't Real were going to, and he didn't want to lose out.
    He is awful.

Yeah I agree. What people keep saying is that fergie would never operate under that arrangement. In the past, that may have been true but now, he's admitted he isn't getting any younger and wants to lead us for as long as he can (and I couldn't think of anyone better, much as I've ranted) and I just think that he is accepting conditions that in the past he would have baulked at because I don't see how he could have been happy with us having next tp nothing to spend when our midfield is suspect.

It is worrying when you read headlines such as:
    "Fergie to Try for Cattermole"

Abort abort abort. So long as Welbeck doesn't go in a swap fpr Henderson, I'll be happy. Henderson looks like a decent player but Welbeck looks like he could be a very good player for us.

I think there is money there for a keeper but it will be the cheapest option still. Stekelenberg will come about £10 million cheaper than he rest of those touted so looks a certainty. Having said that, he looks like a decent keeper and I'd be happy with that signing.
