CAFC set to sign Rotherham United full-back Ben Purrington. For £200000. Good move, played well last season.
Good move, but Purrington returning does not make Charlton's squad any stronger than it was in the second half of last season, it just prevents it from getting weaker. Granted, having Purrington on a permanent deal (two years at least hopefully) will be better than having him on loan, at least from Bowyer's point of view. As an aside, if Duchatelet remains as CAFC owner next season (which I fully expect) then Lyle Taylor will be sold in January.
Purrington has signed, for 3 years (£200,000 apparently) That fills an important part of our defensive jigsaw. As mentioned before I don't see Purringtom making Charlton better than we were in the second half of last season. But he is a known quantity, very reliable and his presence again does not weaken us. A three year deal is good for future stability too with any luck. Assuming RD doesn't get temped to cash in later.
Lyle Taylor doesn't seem that enthusiastic about staying. https://www.skysports.com/watch/vid...57332/taylor-explains-bizarre-pre-season-game
Taylor used the sort of language you hear from players before they leave a club. Before hearing that I expected him to go in January, now I'm not so sure we'll keep him that long, assuming Douchatelet doesn't sell.
QPR are after Cullen. I assume they'll get him, we can't compete for players against other Championship clubs.
Douchatelet will fight tooth and nail to fend off any interest in him..................................................or maybe not.
Marshall signed new deal (Keeper coach) Lyle, Djiksteel and Pearce offered new deals …. from the sound of it if Djiks doesn't sign he will be sold. https://www.londonnewsonline.co.uk/...e-taylor-anfernee-dijksteel-and-jason-pearce/
You can't let young players run their contracts down. If you are in the last year of your contract and you won't sign another you should be sold.
