Totally under-whelmed!! I know we only have a small budget, but we cannot continue to sign L1 standard players and expect to survive in the Championship.
All the hard work and justified celebrations of last season will be undone before Christmas, at which point we will be nailed on to return to L!
Not the fault of Bowyer or the players; simply our owner who happens to be in a world where he certainly believes in fantasies and Father Christmas!!
Even if we get our 'terrible twins' returning in midfield, it would be difficult enough, but with the likes of 'sick note' Williams and 'Chucky' in the team there can only be one outcome.
Really negative post. Williams is Championship class IMHO.
I don't know whether Williams is good enough or resilient enough to be a Championship player, but in my opinion having him back in the squad is better than not having him back.
The new players we get in have to be better than those who are not coming back.
Whether the three new faces we have signed already are better or not remains to be seen.
Everything this season will hinge on the quality of the four or five loanees who'll be arriving as the season begins.
And of course their parent Clubs will be (to some degree at least) pulling the strings.

What on earth is this comment about, I’m delighted with this signing, changed the game when he came on at Wembley. Had no injury issues since he joined us, fingers crossed that stays the same, finally a bit of Championship quality has been added.
I can only comment on Williams from the final, he transformed the game.

About time we actually paid money for someone who is likely to help us stay in the bloody league,
And they give him a 2 year contract; yet another defender. Bowyer must have overlooked the fact that we cannot score goals

Just had a look at his record so far...
A Cardiff City player from 2012 to 2017 but never actually played for them.
Spent those years out on loan to lower league Clubs Newport County, Gillingham & AFC Wimbledon. Was also on loan to Championship side Sheffield Wednesday in 2014 but only for six weeks, making two appearances.
Was then bought by AFC Wimbledon in 2017 and was Captain of their team in the 2018-19 season.
They finished 20th that season, avoiding relegation on goal difference.
He sounds like a good solid tier 3 player who is possibly good enough to do a job in the Championship.
About the same quality as many of our current squad.
While accepting that he is a capable player with leadership qualities, does Deji Oshilaja make Charlton's squad stronger than it was last season? Personally I can't see a compelling reason right now to say that he does. But time will tell.

For any club, it surely is better to buy players/managers with experience of that league.
Since January 2014 that has not been the case and look where it has got us.
We have signed four new players so far and none of them have any Championship experience to speak of.
Our loan signings when we get them may have 2nd tier experience if they have been loaned to other Championship Clubs in the past, but equally likely they will be youngsters who have no experience outside their own academies yet.
If there are going to be any more permanent signings, a player or two with some Championship years under their belts would be very good, as long as they aren't over the hill.

The loans need to be of the Cullen & Bielik standard as well.
Most of our signings so far have been lower league gambles.
Amos, Purrington & Williams are good enough for the Championship.
Deji, Aneke, Bonne and Lockyer are gambles - we will be lucky if two of the four come off.
Chelsea’s Academy Player of the Year sounds promising.

Who's Maybury? We are bringing in hungry players who want to play for us. We are also bringing in leaders, which is good. Gallen and Bowyer deserve a lot of credit trying to bring in a whole team on a minuscule budget. Bowyer and Gallen met Gallagher yesterday and all things being equal he will come in the next couple of days.
Deji wasn't released by Wombles he came to the end of his contract.. we tried to pay money for him last summer, Luton were (I understand) interested in signing him, he was Wombles Captain last season... like Aribo Deji was free to choose his Club this summer , he can play across the back four so can cover at left back now sicknote is injured again!.... plus Deji is a good mate of Lyle and is obviously what Lyle's Tweet was all about yesterday.
Edited that - agree that B & G are doing their very best with loaves and fishes.
So o'll yellow teeth could get £1.3m from Everton selling Lookman this week …. but this will all go into the Belgian's wallet.... be nice if he used it to buy Cullen though.
I think Cullen would cost a lot more than that, but the point is valid. Bowyer could sign some good players for that sort of money.
