Hi,

I wanted to go away from the Bruce out, Quinn out, Gyan is a d**k posts. Something a bit different.

Now, who is your favourite past Sunderland player. Can't be from the present team (not that many would be a fan favourite atm).
You also have to say why he is your favourite.

Now mine is:

Alex Rae.

He was a no-nonense player who could put a tackle in and could pass. If it wasn't for K. Ball could of been captain? He is something that maybe we need now? A leader..
 
Got to be either SKP or SNQ those 2 were about the most exciting forward line the EPL has had. I also believe for 1 season SKP was the best player in the EPL.
 
For me its SKP. European Golden Boot winner, could score from any distance from any angle. Great little footballer and a Sunderland record breaker to boot. If he's gone to Arsenal the year they'd put a bid in for him, he would have been one of THE greats rather than just a Sunderland great.
 
I can't seperate Marco and SKP.

SKP was the superior footballer, clearly, but Gabbiadini was the man when i was first getting into football, and i was simply in awe of him.

Bally hands down though, is the winner for me, Mr SAFC, simple as that, you can't even imagine that he was from the south.

King Charlie. Cos when you're a kid that's when you really have heroes. And at the time he seemed to be 10 feet tall. Maybe he was.
 
Bally with out a shadow of a doubt, loved his tackling and enthusiasm for the club, Alec Rae would be a close second (I like hard tackling players) Philips and Marco would be close though.
 
i was thinking about this the other day and i found it quite difficult to pick between the following

Kevin Ball - passion determination and leadership
Alan Johnston - the first time i remember seeing a sunderland player with genuine skill who could beat several players and put one in the top corner very sad when he left
Arca - genuine skill class and picked up where Alan Johnston left off
SKP - obvious reasons
 
hmmm Martin Smith?

my other two favourites were danny dichio and nicky summerbee, not the best but i just really liked them.

quick other point, did anyone see come dine with me a couple of weeks back where for no reason what so ever a woman just shouted out 'rueben agboola'.
it was quite strange, like she had some form of tourettes. good tourettes to have tho, imagine walking down the street and just shouting a random former sunderland players name, 'IAN ROGERSON'
 
Fave Goalie - Turner
Fave defender - Gary Bennett (just for the David Speedie incident)
Fave midfielder and Fave player - Got to be Mr Sunderland, Kevin Ball.
Fave forward - Marco Gabbiadini (in his prime)
