And back to the original topic....this wind had better **** off like, I wanna get some practice in! I'm away with work next week for a few days and have conveniently gone and booked myself into a hotel/spa/golf resort place so I'm gonna chuck the clerbs in the back of the car and head down the day before I need to be there and hopefully have a round (9 holes at least) when I get there.
I played on Monday, played a few practise holes and then the real thing. My playing partner shot 71, in the wind as well, beat me by seven.
Been out and played 9 holes after work this arvo. Had the Players on in the office all afternoon and I was itching to get out! Wind had died down quite a bit by the time I got out but still a bit blowy up on the 10th tee (ball blew off the tee twice). Wasn't keeping score just wanted a bit practice trying to judge distances with clubs etc so was hitting 2-3 balls on some holes as there was no-one behind me. Driving and irons off the tee were pretty good, nearly drove the green on the 6th and was getting some of my approach shots from 50-60 yds to within 1-2 ft of the hole which was nice to see. I'm ****ing convinced that if the fairways and greens were as well kept as Sawgrass that would shave 5-10 shots off my round quite easily like . Will see what the wind is like in the morning, might go out and play 9 again before I start and then attempt a full round at some point over the weekend.
Boom....stitch that 17th That's the way to do it. https://www.skysports.com/golf/news...ore-fires-spectacular-hole-in-one-at-the-17th
Me either, it hit the flag about 2ft up from the hole and just trickled down the pole....never seen anything like that before. I say trickled, it was shifting quick enough to damage the edge of the grass around the cup.
I had my first lesson yesterday, standing too close to the ball, feet not parallel to the target and too much right hand meaning that my iron shots do not hit the target often enough. Basic stuff but so important, I'm hoping to get my scores to three or four over maximum by the summer.
You know there are two posters on here who are really, really, really, and I mean really, beginning to annoy me. Who has that much time to play golf? Ba****ds!!!
I had a few the tail end of last year. It really helps. I'm going to keep having the occasional lesson this year again.
Good effort mate. Away with work for a few days, been out this afternoon and squeezed 9 holes in.....proper went for it this time and kept score, carded 45 (36 par) which I'm more than happy with given that I sliced nearly every tee shot away off to the right leaving mysefl a longer 2nd shot. It's bogey golf which given ive only had a few practice rounds I'm pretty happy with. Might have to get a few lessons in to try and work on a few things which wil hopefully bring the shot count down. Think that'll be it until the weekend for me save for some more practice whilst I'm here, got 3 full days so not likely to get back to the hotel till 4:30 for the next 2 days.
