Bent it like Beckham Just an absolutely ridiculous shot, probably as good, if not better than Bubba's recovery shot in the 2012 Masters playoff https://www.skysports.com/golf/news...stunning-escape-from-fairway-bunker-in-mexico
Nine holes this afternoon, three over, would have been level if I hadn't taken seven at the par four seventh ffs Still got two birdies.
I'm playing another nine holes this afternoon...and why not!? I've played a good few rounds with a young lad who has also just joined the club, he was at a previous club and played off seven. He's good and would be even better if he improved his putting. But playing against someone decent is a great way to improve your own game, it brings out the competitiveness in you.
You're not wrong there like, an ex boss of mine played off +2 and I played a round with him once up at Warkworth, had the round of my life trying to keep up with him...he's ridiculously good tho, nearly turned pro about 10 years ago.
Just out of interest, do you use a smart watch on the course? I have one of the first series apple watches which i'm gonna be looking to upgrade soon and was thinking about sticking with the apple watch as I do like it and wear it a lot generally, but I'm sorely tempted by the Garmin Fenix 5x plus or the Garmin Approach S60.
I can't believe I'm shooting in the 70s having returned to the game having not played for over 25 years! But I've learned that if you keep your drive straight you are in with a chance of a par or better on any hole. Added to that, I've sorted an annoying habit of underhitting and slicing with irons just by realising that I was out of balance by lifting my left foot ever so slightly when swinging. I now keep it firmly planted on the ground, the result is longer shots, a lot straighter and no duffs. And my putting, I've worked on it to the degree that I can get most longer putts to a foot or two from the hole.
No but the lad I play with uses a rangefinder binocular type, I can usually tell by instinct which club to hit.
Dorts, I don't normally give out advice unless asked. However here's a little gem that will stop you continually being 3 over for nine holes. Only play six...
went up to the Ravensworth last night after work for a toby about the place. Got the membership forms all filled in and signed. Just need to go and hand them in to the secretary (who isn't back until Monday apparently) then i'm in Quite a nice clubhouse with cracking views from the new decked area out the back over the angel of the north. Might even head there with me laptop to work to get out of the house when the weather's good...with the clubs in the car of course !
I will do in the summer mate, it's good to try other courses. It's been thirty years since I last played Ravensworth. It will be good to play you.
Thats me signd up at Ravensworth Dorts My missus is ****ing thrilled !! Booked in to tee off at 7:04 th'morra as there's a competition teeing off at 7:30 so just gonna play 6 or 9 holes maybe. Will probably play the first, second and 3rd then head back towards the clubhouse up the 13th onwards then it gets me out of the way of the competition players. Good job I haven't got an OCD about playing holes in order innit? I kinda do in a way, I hate them ****ing shotgun starts when you're playing a full round, that **** just messes with your head !
****, i've just realised....that's me getting bastard golf related presents from the missus and the kids for birthdays and christmases again now :-(
Played 8 holes this morning, really missed being out on the course like. Had a few horror holes but +11 for the 8 holes with 2 pars and 3 bogeys which I’m ****ing ecstatic with for my first hit in about 2 years.
