Star Trek movies reboot were awful, but that does bring to mind one reboot that WAS successful.

Star Trek next generation TV series was much better than the original series. Maybe it's a spin off rather than reboot technically... But it sets a good model.

Don't try to recast the original cast... Create new characters and set them in same world instead. When actors try to act like other actors who are trying to act like characters... It comes across rather poor... Like the new Star Trek movies.

They should have just done new characters for the new movies.

you are right there.

I agree with all of this, move forward, use the basis of the old but create something new of your own. Its the same problem for ST Disco, rewriting TV history.
Always thought that with something like ST its always best to set a new series chronologically after the old, that way your not forcing your way around old stories.

I haven't seen Discovery yet. Probably never will. Not on Netflix in US, only available if I pay extra to see it on CBS pay channel. (Or if I VPN into British Netflix, so I can watch it and all the other shows that are blocked in the US)

It was ****.

It's like bill and Ted's bogus journey in space.

The very basics of a space military is discipline.

Original, tng and ds9 understood this.

Voyager and then enterprise didn't.

Discovery makes the Orville look disciplined

Watched the film Kursk ... not bad, although not up to the quality of some of Vinterburg's other films, worth a look if you're just wanting something to stick on
