Jesus...just watched the first 10 minutes of 'Cunk on Britain'. A spoof documentary type, you appreciate how good Ali G was because this is ****ing awful.

I should have been clear, letting her watch it by herself is what I'm edging towards.

This Das Boot series is actually pretty good, some of the feel of the original movie but with added storylines, could focus more on the sub and warfare though

    Hmmm...

That was my thing. I don't know how you do a series about guys in a submarine but base it on land.

the original is all about tension and the pressure these guys were under in the conditions. Take that away and what is it?

I don't know whether to start it or not.

I read an article discussing rebooting Harry Potter recently... Doesn't feel that long ago that the last films finished... And they still seem modern. Wait at least until the kids that saw it the first time are old enough to take their own kids to the reboot.

I think it's an "if we film it, they will pay" mentality.

I'm sure they'll finish the disaster which is the "fantastic beasts" saga first... Hopefully they will take a break after that before they try to milk the cow some more.

    My recall of these reboots.

Star trek movies (imo done poorly and disrespectfully)
Twin peaks (original was **** it was ****)
    macgyver
    magnum pi
    hawaii 50
    karate kid movie
    ghostbusters movie
    roots
battlestar galactica (started well then utterly fell apart)
nikita (one irememner, it wasn't big originally but reboot was ****e)
    x files (rubbish)
    Dr Who obviously
    dallas
    90210
    uncle buck

bascially they've failed to improve on the originals every time... yes even the star trek ones which were full cgi compared to ****e in the past.

How much does the author need after her first billion?

I believe jackson is going back once again to the lord of the rings as well.

He basically ignored an entire section of the last book of the trilogy that he might well try fill in.

Star Trek movies reboot were awful, but that does bring to mind one reboot that WAS successful.

Star Trek next generation TV series was much better than the original series. Maybe it's a spin off rather than reboot technically... But it sets a good model.

Don't try to recast the original cast... Create new characters and set them in same world instead. When actors try to act like other actors who are trying to act like characters... It comes across rather poor... Like the new Star Trek movies.

They should have just done new characters for the new movies.
