Life. Good alien film 7.2/10 as usual with sci fi my ratings are unreliable though. I just like sci fi.
Has anyone watched the series DAS BOOT on sky? Is it worth watching. I ask as i really don't want to start it and find they've ruined the original.
Good little film though, the bad guy that helped him inside was very good a realistic hard ****, the kind of scary guy that doesn't say much but is very scary and capable of extreme violence, the gobshites are not often able to back it up but I've met a few people like that character and they are frightening people. "So are we quits now?" "Ask me again and I'll stamp your skull into the concrete."
You're never quits with a guy like that ... I'd imagine. You just get as far away as possible once you never have to see him again! It was a nice little film and I liked how it went in an unexpected direction and kept you guessing about what was going to happen to the main character at different points. 'Don't go acting the big man.' Did he go acting the big man ?? I don't think so, but maybe he did. In comparison to the shot caller in prison those gangsters were just more 'snakey ****s' preying on the seemingly weak and vulnerable like the one who tries to get at him inside. In some ways he isn't weak or vulnerable in the end though. I liked his cell mate as well, good small performance/part for that actor, and the grandad was well played too.
He does get to deck the people bullying his family which I felt was a moment of vindication and empowerment, as well as clearly really stupid and a one way ticket back to prison
I watched it again over the weekend with Anfield Ricky, who confirmed its' veracity, having spent some time himself.
Will give 'Life' a go tonight, although it does sound like a complete rip of Alien. Gylenhaal usually puts a good shift in though.
And he wouldn't have done that if he hadn't gone to prison but then what would he have done? Probably given into them and been under their influence until he went down for something they made him do. He took control knowing where it would lead him which is the first thing he learned in prison, sometimes you have to stick up for yourself. There was recent incident where two scumbags followed my daughter home from work and were shouting things at her to the point where she ran home scared, in a lot of situations I just ignore or walk away and avoid confrontation. In this case I went out in the car and found the ****ers, didn't have to resort to violence as they **** themselves when I confronted them but I wasn't letting that one go.
