McLaren out on the track, tow truck needed. edit: No truck needed, it didn't get far enough to warrant it.
Where are Williams? please log in to view this image Andrew Benson BBC Sport’s chief F1 writer The car is still at the team’s factory in Grove, Oxfordshire, and the current hope is that it will be ready to fly to Spain late on Tuesday. That means it is unlikely at this stage that the car will run first thing Wednesday morning, but the team are hoping to get it out on to the track at some stage that day. The delay is leading to speculation about the future of chief technical officer Paddy Lowe, who joined from Mercedes in 2017 and is ultimately responsible for the car. Just as concerning for Williams, insiders say the car does not look like it will be quick when it does finally hit the track. Sources say the car is projected to be as much as two seconds slower than last year’s, which was already the slowest on the grid. Rule changes to front wings have reduced downforce but many teams have clawed a large part of it back. If the word from inside the team is accurate, Williams could be facing a season adrift of the rest of the field.
Two seconds a lap slower than last year! Ferrari's early pace suggests to me that the others won't fall back at all. Williams looking HRT bad. Surely Benson must be exaggerating. Could be a team in its death throes if they cant sort that quickly.
Oh dear, Oh dear. I did say last year that I doubted Paddy Lowe, beginning to feel I was justified. Losing half the first week of testing is bad news.
Was it you that last season said you questioned Paddy ? saying that perhaps he had ridden on Ross Brawns coat tails ? I know someone did . Problem is , he is a shareholder I think ? * Edit . Yes it was you ( re-read you post ) .
Ferrari have said they’ll prioritise Vettel it nevessary for the first part of the season. Ugh. Piss off. Let the kid race.
It was me, I was very polite about it, but actually felt much stronger about his questionable capability than I voiced.
It won't be , CLC will piss all over him . Unless they need to prioritise SV , coz he will need a head start
Makes sense to back Vettel early on. They need a team leader to take on Merc. If Leclerc really starts to push him , they'll swap pretty quickly I reckon.
What colour is the Ferrari? When I saw it in the pit it definitely looked red, then on track, a while later, it definitely looked orange.
Early days... but Ferrari look to have had a good winter. Monumental sand-bagging from Merc once again....
As do McLaren, OK, we don;t know fuel, ballast, but just .2 off Alonso's '18 quali time, and did a fair few laps (ok, they had a bit of a problem with the practice start, but at least 1 of the fallen giants looks to have designed a race car. Alonso strikes again?
