True, Gomez is now largely used as a CB but was being used to rest TAA earlier in the season I think and is the best alternative. Klopp has
probably since realised that Gomez is better than Lovren or Matip and in an ideal world would go with TAA at RB and Gomez as RCB.

In the end.... like it or not... when the world looks back without red tinted glasses we will have to endure people pointing directly at the clyne decision as a big error by klopp in years to come... .the only way to not have that is to win the league now.

Some of you have very red tinted glasses and are denying this is even an error at all and actually a good move. very very view non LFC fans would agree.

I can't see any pundit or program put together on 2018/19 season not referring to the decision that klopp made... Personally... its not the biggest issue in the world as its a right back but it does impact.

I personally think that if we had the money we should have moved on a target this January just to boost everyone. Not sure any targets were available really but we will see.

Fair enough but as said gomez was the backup to TAA. Shooting clyne off meant you had no specialist rb cover. Using fabinho, hendo or milner there now. It was unfortunate that TAA got injured though. Also your LB cover is moreno/milner

Klopp really needs to be having a word.
Every time Matip gets that glint in his eye you can see several midfielders thinking "oh ****" and desperately trying to cover before he loses the ball.

Some of them are just as guilty as matip though.

If everyone did what they should and hold their line generally we should be fine.

Yeah, but midfielders are supposed to move about a bit. The whole team is pulled out of shape by Matip going forward - it would be ok except he just keeps going until he loses the ball and is then 50 yards away from where he should be.
I know there are some on here quite like him doing it, but I think it's a disaster waiting to happen.

Perhaps in years to come we'll know the real reason - and won't have to resort to making stuff up.

Because it's normal and happens every year. We're very reliant on our starting XI and really don't have much depth.

I predicted this second half slump, I said when we were 7 points up that we were not favourites for the title because when the inevitable injuries hit we don't have the depth to keep going.

Every team accumulates injuries at some point every year. It's something that happens and needs to be accounted for.

On Clyne. We let him go too early. We could have kept him until 31/1 to make sure that those recovering from injury actually recovered. With hindsight, it was poor judgement but we only know that now. That said, the club have persistently demonstrated very good judgement on transfers recently - in and out - which has taken to where we are now so we (I) probably need to cut them some slack tbh.

At the beginning of the season, our current position was beyond my wildest expectations; mostly because City are champions with the richest squad ever assembled in the history of the Premier league, perhaps the world. How could we compete? But we are....and after getting over the disappointment of the last few performances, I remind myself of that and if where we have come from in 2 years.

French club Nantes have demanded payment from Cardiff City over the £15m transfer of Emiliano Sala, BBC Wales has learned.

Sala, along with pilot David Ibbotson, was on board the Piper Malibu N264DB which lost radar contact near Guernsey on 21 January.

The Argentine striker, 28, was Premier League club Cardiff's record signing.

Cardiff have withheld the first scheduled payment until they are satisfied with the documentation.

BBC Wales has learned the transfer fee is due to be paid in instalments over three years.

It is understood Nantes are threatening legal action if they do not receive a payment within 10 days. The BBC has attempted to speak to Nantes for comment.

A source at Cardiff says they will honour the contract but not until they have clarified "all the facts".

And Cardiff are "surprised" Nantes have made the demand while attempts are being made to recover a body from the plane that was carrying Sala and Ibbotson.

The body was seen in the Piper Malibu on Monday, two weeks after the plane vanished near Guernsey.

French club Bourdeaux are also entitled to a cut of the fee, thought to be 50% - Sala was on their books from 2012 to 2015 before joining Nantes.

The plane carrying Sala and Ibbotson, from Crowle, Lincolnshire, disappeared en route to Cardiff after the footballer returned to Nantes to say goodbye to his former team-mates.

I would prefer to see Fabinho as RB leaving Milner to play midfield. But what do I know!

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is stretchered off after suffering a knee injury against Roma in April 2018
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been included in Liverpool's Champions League squad for the knockout stages of the competition.

The 25-year-old midfielder has been sidelined for 10 months with a knee ligament injury and is due to return to full training in February.

Oxlade-Chamberlain suffered the injury during Liverpool's Champions League semi-final against Roma last April.

Liverpool face Bayern Munich in last-16 first leg at Anfield on 19 February.

Dutch defender Ki-Jana Hoever, 17, has also been added to the 25-man squad, with clubs permitted to register a maximum of three new eligible players at this stage.

Do we don't concede via the right hand side, in fact we get plenty of clean sheets, and whoever plays RB gets some assists, but we don't win the league...

Clyne not being good enough and getting shipped out is the reason?

This is a new low of wumming mate, at least try and make sense ffs

sigh... take off the red tinted glasses mate.

did I or did I not say this is what every review of this season will look back at and point to as one of the reasons why... unless we win league.

win it and nothing matters. lose it and every scrap will be analysed and people will lay blame.on klopps doorstep.

Don't agree but not will we (especially as you're just arguing for the sake of it)

What's more question though; what if Clyne gets injured and is ruled out for majority of the remaining season?

other than he played .. which you can't deny.

    the junkie stuff is speculation.

the back surgery can't be denied.

the shots of him in the USA looking quite fine can't be denied either.

it is the absence of actual comment from those who actually know that's led to speculation
