Oh well, time will tell whether it was a good move for him or a massive mistake chasing the money and not thinking about his career. I suspect it will be the latter and he will end up in the same position as Assoro.
Christ, club clearly not happy with him — no thanks, no well-wishes, nothing. Tells me all I need to know, he's clearly acted like a bit of a **** throughout the process.
Sunderland have this morning confirmed the departure of top scorer Josh Maja, who has joined Ligue 1 side Bordeaux after a long and protracted saga over the player’s future. Whilst various fees regarding how much the club are set to receive have been bandied around over recent days, it’s our understanding that the club are only set to receive around £1.5m from the deal - and the receipt of any future installments is dependent on a variety of factors and clauses which, of course, depend upon how successful Maja is over in France. The kicker, however, is that the fee itself may not actually be placed back into the club’s coffers due to an outstanding payment that has still yet to be made to Bordeaux for the signing of Wahbi Khazri, who was brought to Wearside in the January transfer window of 2016 by Sam Allardyce. Sunderland still owe Bordeaux a sum which is almost as much as they’re set to receive for Maja, meaning that the fee will not be available to Jack Ross and the club’s recruitment team to immediately inject back into the club. That said, we believe that the club are still committed to bringing new players in before the window shuts, and that was always the case even before Maja departed. https://rokerreport.sbnation.com/20...ansfer-and-departure-from-sunderland-revealed
This page seems quite bitter about Maja leaving. The standard in French football isn't the greatest and I think he's got a fair chance of being a success with Bordeaux. In footballing terms, Sunderland aren't on the same level as, Bordeaux, currently or historically. I can see why he's left, definitely. The lad didn't let any of it affect his performances and he continued to knock them in regardless of the speculation. Good luck, Josh!
Josh Benchwama **** him. Anyway, if he's happy paying French taxes on his new salary and keeping the temperature of the pitch-side furniture up, good luck to him.
Don't know where you get that from. They've won 6 league titles since 1881 whilst we've won 6 since 1890. And they average less in Ligue 1 than we do in the English 3rd tier.
If you travelled around the world asking people if they'd heard of Sunderland football club or Bordeaux football club, I would imagine everybody would have heard of Bordeaux, but definitely not Sunderland. Bordeaux have played in Europe, a lot. They're known as quite a big club, in Europe. We aren't.
