The effect of the amendment would be to temporarily suspend the Commons standing orders that give the Government control over the timetable of the House. That would allow cross-party groups to pass laws of their own if they can command a majority.

Under the plan, a European Union Withdrawal Number 2 Bill would be voted on, which, if passed, would force the Government to delay the UK departure from the EU and seek a fresh soft-Brexit deal.

This is what you should be looking at, not stuck in a time warp of something that has been rejected by a huge margin.

To, in effect, push through something which neither has a majority in Westminster or amongst the population - Mussolini would have been proud of you ! If that is the case then Britain's democratic tradition is in tatters. Before there will be a hard Brexit there will be a General Strike in the UK, because the TUC is just as much against this as the opposition parties are. Your preferred plan would also place the UK. on the brink of breakup, because Scotland would not follow you on this road. Are you ready for all of this ?

You fail to understand that parliament has already voted to set the governments course of action, either agree a deal or leave without a deal. There has been lots of remoaners predictions, all have failed so far.

 

So it appears that you will not be contributing much to this debate for a time if you don't wish to discuss the evolving situation.

It beggars belief the smearing that some on this thread do... Whatever we think about his actions or policies or party. Corbyn is not an evil man.. Why do certain people seek to portray him in this way.? Can yo not stick to debate without dismissive abuse?

I don't think you can call the DUP and your ERG mates remoaners. If they'd have accepted the deal it may have had an easier passage - Good grief even Ken Clark backed it....

 

The moment he says he would be prepared to give a cabal of MPs with terrorist links £1billion to help him form a government he will be fit to be Prime Minister - until then not so much

 

What Unionists? - not the ones holding the guns. Why do you think the DUP were saying they voted with the government to avoid a Corbyn government, he is despised by the Unionist community in NI.

 

Because he has some accord with the views of the Irish Republican movement... Their views have probably as much standing as those of the unionists who were founded by British imperialism... This black and white good and bad approach to politics just increases divisiveness and ultimately conflict.. We need IMO a politics of consensus and middle ground...

The middle ground occupied by the wishy washy Lib Dems was firmly rejected at the last election. Their anti Brexit main message fell on deaf ears.

Macron was elected in a fanfare for the middle ground in France, just look at the mess he has created.

 

That is why we need strong government... Not what we have now

You see the problem is SH. According to your little World the entire opposition benches are full of a party led by 'scum', a party led by a 'poison dwarf', and a party full of wishy washy losers (not to mention the scorn you have thrown in Vince Cable's direction) - the Greens are not on your radar yet. Your own party is half full of 'remoaners' and 'rebels', and I suspect that if TM delivers anything but your dream that she will also will be cast as some kind of devil. Everyone on here who disagrees with you is either short of understanding, or often a lot worse. The World, through the eyes of SH, is full of either goodies (a shrinking few of them) and baddies (now the majority). In fact you remind me of an Alsatian that I once knew
