Ive said many time I like alot about Puel. His vision of youth is the way to go IMO. But he then doesnt help himself by playing Morgan over Dragovic last year. Choudhury falls off the face of the earth all season until a few games ago My major issues with him is his team selection, subs and tactics I really dont get why we are scared of being tagged as the counter attacking team. We won the league doing it. Against the better sides thats how we should play. When we play the lesser teams like Southampton today we will play slow, predicatable sideways and backwards football. Thats why I wanted Harvey Barnes back The other issues with Puel is his transfer business. He is saying we wont sign anyone but then sells Iborra with Silva and King set to follow. Doesnt he realise Ndidi, Mendy and Choudhury is near enough the same player. Neither offers something different or something going forward. He did the same last season and again in the summer by getting rid of Slimani, Ulloa and Musa leaving us lacking options and heavily relying on Vardy With Puel as soon as I think we have taken 1 step foward he slaps us in the face with some stupid decisions.
... reading between the lines I think he is saying that we will not be splashing silly money on already established players like Sigurdsson, Richarlison, Arnautovic, Yarmalenko, Moutinho, Rui Patricio ... not that we can't compete with those clubs on the pitch ...
Ranieri made us and told us to dream that we can not only compete but beat anyone ON the pitch Now Claude is telling us we cant even compete with Wolves, West Ham and Everton off it. Gives you an idea what his team talks are like
And how did Ranieri's reign end? We ended up not being able to beat anybody, whatever his message was and however rousing his words were. Words can only go so far. As soon as the players step onto the pitch it is purely down to them. And at any level, if you don't have the ability required to break the opposition down and you give away soft goals, then you'll struggle. By all accounts we didn't start playing yesterday until late in the first half. Whose fault is that? What sparked the sudden change in attitude? It was the same players, so what happened? We keep remembering the title winning season, because it is still so recent. That season was so far out of what we had ever achieved before (in modern day terms) but for some it has become our benchmark. But that team had a backbone of Schmeichel, Huth and Morgan, Kante and Drinkwater, and Vardy, plus we had Mahrez who could provide the odd spot of magic. We don't have that defence and we certainly don't have a comparable midfield any more. Under O'Neill we arguably had a better all round squad than today, but still only managed finishes just inside the top 10, because that was realistically the best we could do with our squad. The fact we won silverware provided some consolation, but we still knew that over a league season we were a mid table team. When I look at our current squad, particularly the midfield and strikers, I have to admit that I don't see any reasons why I should expect more than mid table.
Its nothing about how it ended under Ranieri. Its about how he let us think and believe anything could happen Now we all turn up fearing the worst and falling asleep while its happening If we are going to lose games I would rather see us have a go I think we need change above Puel aswell with a certain John Rudkin. He was the one who recommended Puel and appointed Shakey because he couldnt get Wagner and then got Shakey sacked without a fair crack He is a big part to blame in this. Either Rudkin needs to go back to his academy role or needs to boot along with Puel Whether you are for or against Puel you have to realise its complete dross and something has to change as the longer this goes on the harder it will be to get back on track to where we want to be
When Puel came in admitted we had too many players but we had options up front and in midfield Only position we didnt was centre half which he has sorted but caused the problem we had their in both the midfield and up front Whether is Puel or Rudkin. Since we won the league we have recruited extremely poorly Hernandez, Slimani, Silva, Iheanacho, Zieler, Jakupovic, Musa, Kaputska, Ghezzal and to a degree Mendy was all poor signings and havent work Reason I included Mendy was it took him 2 years to get a run in our team. All the other just have got the quality or havent delievered for us. We spent roughly £125M on them named above. Just not good enough Only Ndidi and Maguire have been successes Ricardo and Maddison are on the right path. Evans was a bargain and Iborra did ok and the jury is still out on Soyuncu and Benkovic
You are defending Shakespeare while lambasting Puel? Shakespeare was completely devoid of any ideas except of how Raneiri used to play and left us in the relegation zone when he was sacked - you would prefer that over safety? I don't know how long you have been a Leicester fan but I have been one for over 20 years and 100% I would have boring midtable over an exiting relegation battle.
Dunno why you are blaming Rudkin when we have had a head of recruitment for a long time now. The guy that signed the majority of those players was Steve Walsh and he is no longer here and the rest of them was Eduardo Macia who will very likely be leaving us soon as a lot of clubs are after him even if you don't think highly of him.
Wasnt defending Shakey. Just said he wasnt given a fair crack. We played Arsenal, Man U, Liverpool and Chelsea in the first 5 or 6 games. Shakey never was a manager and never should have been appointed. But to say he has no ideas you obviously didnt go to the Atletico Madrid game where he switched formations and had Atletico on the ropes for 15-20 mins Shakey like Puel shouldnt have been appointed. Shakey got the job because it was a simple short term fix, while Puel shouldnt have got the job and hasnt took us forwards at all since he took the job Ive had a season ticket now for not far off 20 years
Rudkin appoints managers and negotiates the transfers. Once Sporting quoted £30M for Slimani we should have laughed. Not paid it Murcia has been a failure
If you are only judging managers over one game then what about when Puel switched formations against when we went down vs Man City and had them against the ropes for 60+ min?
If your Premier League winning manager wants an established international for stupid money, why wouldn't you agree? I remember laughing when we got a non league player for £1m.
We were much better then then after they scored and we changed formation - there was only one team that was going to win and it was us. You are so anti-Puel you don't want to see any positives do you.
Much better. Behave. We was better yes but still was a game that could have gone either way I will give you credit for how you try to defend the indefenceable though
When we was **** we was **** and hasnt spunked £100’s of millions on the team. When we have I expect better I want a manager that is going to attack lesser teams especially at home. Not fill the midfield and bore everyone to death Alot of the fan base is becoming disillusioned because of Puel and his style That fan who had the Puel out sign took off him yesterday had every right to to bring in that sign. Whether it was Puel out or in he has every right. The steward was a joke Puel like no other manager is fracturing the club. The player dont like him and neither do most of the fans.
