Do you know what I find this entirely reasonable.

“I’ve got a standard contract for academy players coming through into the first team and it applies to all of them for consistency. It was a deal that’s been accepted by others, such as Jarrod.

“It’s a success-driven deal and he’s hit all his targets to progress. Josh made a move thinking he would make a step up but if you look at Jarrod on his new deal then he’s way ahead.

Unfortunately for Josh and unless something changes dramatically for him at Stoke, best case he will have to drop right down the league's and start again and worse case he will see out his contract and struggle to find a new club due to his age/lack of games and the fact there will be so many other players with more experience out of contract and ahead of him

Is that really true? The standard contract thing?

He was offered two different contracts at two different times so it’s not exactly standard is it? Plus he was already in and around the first team so why was he still being given this “standard” contract.

I’d agree Jarrod is ahead in terms of his playing progression now. Josh is playing week in week out for Stoke’s U23s whilst Jarrod is playing week in week out for Hull City’s first team.

It’s odd that we are still going back and forth with this. How dare players leave Hull City!

Reactions: Leon...
Just to say as well. There may be a weekly wage but the bonuses for doing well are decent.
I know the other year hinchliffe who has now been released got 7000 just for been on the bench. Didn't even come on.

If Bowen is worth 20m and the club is up for sale for 40m (according to Geoff on the Amber Necrar podcast he did before Christmas), does that mean if they sell the player, are they going to halve the price of the club?

Obviously the answer is no but I ask because would people accept the sale of Bowen if it meant the sale of the club went through?

I completely ****ed it up, it was a deal worth £2.6m.

Even at that amount anyone from a purely financial point of view would accept it. He could have stayed and got injured the next day.

Personally I would have gone and set myself and my future family up for lif weigh thewith the potential of never having to work again and give my future children a great future. Or gamble that on a promise by Ehab to improve the contract in future.... From a purely financial point of view it was a simple choice.

I see Tymon wasn't even in the matchday squad for Stoke and Clucas was on the bench in their 0-2 home defeat to Bristol City. I wonder if Tymon rues the day he left, financially in the short term probably no, but in the long run who will turn out the most financially successful Bowen, Batty or him?

Tymon hasn’t been in a single match day squad all season in the league. But obviously he’s worth so much money so he made the right move.

Don’t forget Tymon looked largely out of his depth in the majority of his appearances.

Case in point was the reason behind most of spurs 7-0 victory. His handful of appearances in the premier league for stoke were also riddled with **** ups. Stoke fans thought he was **** but had potential, he went to MK Dons where the fans thought he was alright but didn’t want him back.

Probably be prejudiced with hindsight now but I think if he got a £3k to £4K a week deal from us it would have been more than he was realistically worth.
