You can't expect to stay competitive in a league where (just like the prem) more money is spent every transfer window and spend less each year yourself. Hurst spent more in one window than Mick ever did but that was only because he decimated the squad of all the assets to fund it. He still spent considerably less than the amount received and that is the norm at ITFC and so finally we are now not at the level to compete in the championship any more.

Evans likes to charge London prices at a rural club but only put league one investment into it and expects fans to turn up regardless. Sooner he ****s off the better.

Well, in late on this, and delighted we are playing well and on top. Maybe, just maybe we can turn our season round....hmmm no pen, not our luck!

We all know if we win this and the next, then we are in with a fair chance to stay up. Confidence is crucial, and a gruelling, tough it out performance.

I think it will be our day! And we do have a few stull to come back, Spring time perhaps. If only we had the so needed out and out big man up front....

Happy New Year all my fave townies! But where's Warky... still skulking under the bar owing me a pint or 10 of Adnams! Warky, do come back, we are actually winning!

We could've had a couple of penalties already. We're moving the ball quickly and keeping it on the ground a lot. Downes, Bish, Kenlock and Lankester are all contributing and playing well. Kenlock is so much better than Knudsen when overlapping, I'm glad that Jonas is refusing to play (which is what I think is happening) as it means Lambert doesn't have much choice but to play Myles. Myles is taking the chance well.

Sounds a good match and one to watch! But enjoying the commentary...all positive so far.
 
1-0 at the half then.

Some good football played at times, certainly early in the first 45. As the half wore on though we did start sending the ball long more often which was a shame because we looked good playing the ball on the floor. Chalobah was especially guilty of trying to force the action but the lad needs to realise he's playing with Downes and Bishop who he should be passing the ball to instead. Downes just keeps getting better, Bish has had his moments as has Lankester, who made a fantastic, jinking run into the box but didn't pull the trigger in time. Kenlock has really added something to the left hand side and Spence has played pretty well too, with some decent attacking contribution today.

Baffling how a professional goalkeeper can manage to kick the ball out of play from his own goal kick though, Gerken, you really should be able to do better than that with absolutely no pressure on a dead ball!

Come on lads!

Really pleased with how quickly Downes is improving, I liked him way more than Nydam after seeing them both play. I personally don't think Tristan will become a first teamer for us. If Bishop can stay fit that would be great, he has added something extra to us today that Nolan has been struggling to.
 
Much appreciate yr ongoing summaries SD, just have to wait for the flippin highlights tomorrow to catch the short clips of rare excellence!

Ha ha, Reading's goal diff being eaten away 0-4 to the Swans!
