Tbf he does a job if it’s the right circumstances I.e keeping you up. I don’t think he has failed in that respect. But we are not in a relegation battle right now and I think you are an Everton fan (?) so if I’m right it was odd for you last season too as despite a bad start you wouldn’t seriously have been in trouble. I suppose he settled the ship for Silva to come in. In terms of league position we are not in crisis so he’d be the worst appointment. Our performances are grim but we need someone long term to come in and continue to emphasis on youth.

Lenny couldn't have done much more at Celtic than he did (including a CL win over Barcelona) and he is doing a pretty good job at Hibs considering the financial constraints ... he has also been described as the best manager in Scotland by Sir Alex Ferguson no less ... <cheers>

Bolton? And there is a reason he is at Hibs

I just think we could do better. Pearson or Rodgers would be my choice but I like the Artera shout

He arguably did better at Bolton than NP did at Derby if you consider the respective financial backing ...

No real surprise after the cup defeat - was probably our best chance for Europe so will be under a lot of pressure to prove that resting players for the league was the right call.

Only thing I would say is if we do want to get rid of him, should do it now so the new manager has a transfer window - then again the conspiracy theorist in me is thinking that we are only linked with a handful of players and our DoF is rumoured to be leaving as well so maybe we are going to have a quiet window and will have Puel as a fall guy to explain our lack of activity?

Not sure about bringing back Pearson - like @JohnTheFox said he is a defensive manager so the only positive he would have is nostalgia. Surprised no one said Harry Redknapp as interim boss - would probably do it for some kangaroo testicles and jam roly polys.

Rodgers would be a solid shout as permanent boss as whatever else you can say about him, he knows this league and has experience building a team - unless we fluke it into Europe, we won't get the likes of Jardim.

He did bridge the gap while waiting for Silva. But he was also allowed to waste £50m on Walcott and Tosun!!!!

The thought of NP returning is disheartening. His interviews (when he deigns to give them) are equally as boring as Puels - but at least I cant understand half of the rubbish that Puel spouts. Martin O'Neill of course is available. Hope we win these next 3 matches and Puel stays - just to wind up half the whingers on Foxestalk.

Well that relieved the pressure a bit and the hugs and high fives to Puel from the players - including Vardy - says something...

Today is make or break for Puel. Either he needs to adapt his ideas to the team or he gets sacked

He cant carry on how he has been

Matt Le Tissier said earlier Southampton asked him to change. He refused so they sacked him

If Puel doesnt alter his tactics and style now then he is in his last few weeks as a manager in the Premier League

Really? After today? He has changed the system to more of a 3 up front. I agree we need some consistency and to build on the result today but surely just be happy with today and give credit where it’s due?

He did today - we played a 4-3-3 that went to a 4-5-1 when defending and we beat a team that was on a really good run.

Don't you see any positives from today or do you just want Puel gone no matter what? Is very likely he will go in the summer when Rodgers is available if not sooner, so just see him as the interim manager like I am.

Never know, we could go on a run or win the FA cup and get into Europe - I will be going oldschool and keeping the faith.

Lets not pretend today does nothing other then papering over the cracks. We played a different style of play a few weeks ago against Watford. Looked dangerous and won. Next game he changed the team, formation and style and we went back to square 1

As I was saying. Puel either wakes up and keeps going with what we did today. Or he gets sacked. Simple as. Im not going to bury my head in the sand over 1 great result

In fairness to Puel, we have drawn with Man City and beaten Chelsea in our last 2 games ... to put that into some context Nigel Pearson lost every game he ever managed against those 2 teams ..

Pearson who built a team on a small budget that went onto win the title? Puel who has a squad full of internationals and spent alot on bringing players in

Dont compare the 2. Under Pearson we was competitive in every single game. Under Puel were not

It was a great result today but lets not make out all of a sudden everything is sunshine and rainbows. There is more wrong then right with us atm. 1 great result doesnt change that. Wait until Puel makes 4 changes and tries to pass Man City off the park on boxing day

Puel has won the title in the top tier in France .... Pearson very nearly got us relegated .... my point is that we should give the guy some credit ... you seem to be suggesting that it was really Nigel Pearson that won us the title ... it wasn't ... tactically he was often found out ...

Puel is found massively wanting for his tactics most week. Today he got them spot up but im judging the job he has done since day 1 which hasnt been good enough. I dont judge him based on which way the wind is blowing today

He won a very poor Ligue 1 many many years ago. Done bugger all since

Pearson was managing a team that had just come up out the championship. The job was to stay up which he achieved. At what point did I suggest Pearson won the title. He built 90% of that squad

Back onto Puel yes today he deserves credit but you will be ripping your hair out in a few days when he changes everything and gives a **** interview about character and quality.

He wont change his ways. Southampton tried and failed so they sacked him. Our players have tried and failing to get him to adapt and this will cost him

I don't understand what is going on. According to the papers the relationship between Puel, the players and the coaching staff is toxic, but then it's all hugs after the match and, according to the BBC report, the players looked to be really trying for him today. Were those hugs from the manager the equivalent of the farewell wave to the crowd from a player who knows he's played his last game?

Whatever the outcome it was a great result today, but like others, I will be interested to see what happens with the selection and tactics in the next 2 games.

Why aren't you judging him on yesterdays game where he seemed to change his ways? Didn't the players that were hugging and hi fiving him at least seem to like him?

Not sure why you aren't judging Pearson on his only season in the Premier League where for 3/4 of the season where we were rooted to the bottom of the Premier League and he going a bit mental swearing at our own fans and attacking opposition players?

As for Puel's interviews, I would 100% prefer some boring statement over headlines about him calling journalists ostriches and the like.

Also according to other fans we won a very poor Premier League - does that diminish our achievements?
