No mate, that was just you making a twat of yourself. You know that I play music too, so don't embarrass yourself again with that, yeah ?

It's also known as a Turkish Gypsy and there are variations in Hungarian music too. Have you ever played any of those styles ? I used to play in a band that had a 5 piece brass section, so they liked to play stuff that had a Balkan twist.

There's a band called Balkan Beat Box who have got a modern approach to traditional Balkan music, you should check them out <ok>

    pieguts and Spurlock like this.
  4. I cannot say that I am overly familiar with ethnic styles of music other than black American blues, on which our own rock and pop is predominantly based.

I became interested in the Phrygian Dominant scale because I wanted to know how guitarists such as Blackmore, Schneker, Malmsteen, Satriani and Vai managed to elicit this sound.

Of course, rote learning the scales is one thing, but knowing when to use them is completely another.

I have finally managed to crack the code. It comes off the back of my intensive study of modal playing, over the past year or so.
