Burnley are a well run club that budgeted properly for the future unlike Hull City under Assem Allam and Steve Bruce. They invested very little in the squad when they got promoted in 2009. They kept the bulk of the Premier League riches and invested in the infrastructure and kept their team together. The second promotion gave them the funds to start building the squad for a prolonged stay in the Premier League. The complete opposite of what we did.

Thereby proving the view that the Allams do not know what they are doing

I really think that Bruce was happy to sign £2-3 million players, not the fantasy sums that you've introduced on his behalf. Your insistence on bringing this mess to Steve Bruce's door is frankly absurd.

I blame Assem Allam. He should have sacked Bruce in 2014 and replaced him with Pulis.

Over two seasons Andre Gray would have cost us around £10 million including transfer fees, wages, national Insurance and bonuses. The following season 4 players at £3 million plus wages, tax etc would have been another £18 million. That's close to £30 million, £30 million we didn't have. Maybe not close enough to £40 million for you but I'm not convinced that Bruce would have restricted himself to players costing £2 or £3 million though. But that's just my personal opinion.

If we'd signed Andre Gray, we wouldn't have signed Diomande, we spent half that money on a far poorer player.

Not signing Andre Gray was a mistake, he was an excellent player available for at least half what he was worth.

Steve Bruce picked Diomande. Its almost like he did it on purpose after Ehab said no to Andre Gray. £5 million would have bought a couple of good decent strikers from the lower leagues or Scotland.

Dio still banging 'em in in US though, 11 in 15. Perhaps he just didn't like us :emoticon-0101-sadsm

Diomande was £1.7 million - in true City fashion we bought an injured player who missed weeks when he arrived a crock - he spent most of his time sat on his arse rubbing his head

That's what happens when you play players in their position. Obviously the quality of the league counts as well

This correct position thing is getting way out of hand. Is there a position on the pitch which causes players to fall on their arse constantly? Perhaps he was just a bit ****.

Falls on his arse just the once, while putting the ball in the back of the net.:emoticon-0105-wink:

I'm not a particular fan and I understand about lower quality leagues but I don't think we got the best out of him.

He did spend a lot of time on his arse TBF. But a lot of that time was because he was sat on the bench.

Exactly, to be fair to him he never got a consistent run in the team to prove himself IMO. Strikers, like all players need a run in the team to play themselves into form, you just have to sometimes give players a chance to prove themselves.
