When my son was younger, all the boy players had a Messi jersey, the girls all had WNT jerseys.

Women's football over there is lightyears ahead of elsewhere. Wasn't it a prodominatlntly female sport 10-20 years ago?

I had never seen a football match before the women hosted and won the 1999 WC. It was a big story at the time.

You’ll find mistakes by de Gea, the best in the world, and Schmeichel, the best ever as well mate.

    Messi misses a few pens.

Point stands, Lloris is a superb keeper.

Agreed. 6/1 on the treble, decent.

You think the sacking could have an effect on Spain?

Yeah. Hierro might want to do things in a different way tactically, and won't have sufficient time to sort it out

Its odd this - having a game of this calibre so early in the tournament. I think both teams will simply not want to lose

Watch this man - it will be a 5-0 Spain victory and you'll be noising me up <laugh>

I think despite the upheaval the quality in that Spain squad is another level to Portugal.

Portugal have a lot of great young lads, similar to us, but they are 2-4 years from being a contender again, they will need a talisman as this will be Ronaldos last tournament I think.

Spain will dominate the ball, and they will pinch it, BTTS a great shout for that one.

Now if it would just hurry up and be 1 o’clock I’ve 5 days off now and entertaining the bird tonight so I wanna max today’s footy, ha.

I think it will be business as usual with the sacking being so recent. They haven't had time work on anything. I think Spain are much stronger overall. Tend not to back draws but draws they will happen. Good luck mate.

Good odds on draws most of the time. I usually try and squeeze one or two in to a coupon

Egypt are no mugs and I can see them holding Uruguay to a draw. Morocco should beat Iran. I also fancy Portugal and Spain to draw.

I rarely do doubles but my bet today is a draw double - Egypt V Uruguay and Portugal v Spain.

I can’t agree on Egypt. They are dependent on Salah doing his thing to get a point from that.

They are woefully slow at the back, the CB’s are big lads and they will get ran into the ground by Suarez, and they are incredibly short in midfield.

A draw isn’t impossible sometimes the first round of games is tight, but I think Uruguay are the ultimate dark horses, they are under the radar and they could beat anyone on their day.

Uruguay is the selection I'm worried about most. Glad it's first game of the day. But like to think Uruguay would see em off

Absolute banker for me that, although if I knew all I’d be a billionaire!

Suarez to score 2 or more is 10/1 SkyBet boost, and Suarez and Cavani to score is 7/1.

I’m getting on both of those.

Yep, and (a partially fit) Salah will be getting a few body checks as well. Nothing too dirty but enough to make him uneasy about getting too involved

He’s a phenomenal talent no question mate, but he can’t carry a team.

He could lift them above mid level teams, but this isn’t a mid level opponent this is lower top class with 4-5 real world class players.

Muslera is a superb keeper, Godin one of the best leaders in the game, Giminez is one of the best young CBs in the game.

We don’t need to talk about the forwards, we know, Torreira and Vecino are lovely in midfield look after the ball and use it, they are very tidy.

Surprised they didn’t take Lodeiro, absolutely gorgeous footballer but made some ropey decisions and currently playing MLS.
