New album out today, mixed reviews and I can see why. Totally different and heavy influences of Nick Cave and Bowie.

Listened to the whole album today and I can confirm it's utter ****.

Why don't they stick to what they did well. This is some Bowie/Swing/Soul rubbish.

I'm all for bands changing direction but ffs have a clear direction. This album is terrible.

Attempted to listen to it again as I thought mmm maybe it'll grow on me - nope. Load of ****e. If you want that genre listen to that genre, not some rock band pretending to be that genre.

Really odd. Even stranger that no one said wtf are you boys doing?!

I like it. The Ultracheese in particular is superb, they've clearly taken the Bowie and Nick Cave influence into the album but I don't think they are copying them as there's not one song you could say it's actually like a Bowie track it's just the vocal style.
I love Nick Cave so like this style of music so maybe that's why I'm more into it.

I imagine it's a shock to their fans in general.

It's very samey samey to me.

Some of the reviews on Amazon are funny, they're taking a proper bashing <laugh>

Agreed, it’s ****e. So glad I wasn’t successful in getting tickets for them.

I’ll go and enjoy Incubus instead in a nicer venue.

No good then?

I'm a bit worried to listen to it!

I don't like it when hands get pretentious but it doesn't necessarily mean the material is no good.

Sod it.

Time to give it a spin!

Brilliant lyrics.

Well, last night these two bouncers
And one of 'em's alright
The other one's a scary'un
An his way or no way totalitarian
He's got no time for you looking or breathing
How he don’t want you to
So step out the queue
He makes examples of you
And there's nothing you can say
Behind they go through to the bit where you pay
And you realise then that it's finally the time
To walk back past ten-thousand eyes in the line
And you can swap jumpers and make another move
Instilled in your brain, you've got something to prove
To all the smirking faces and the boys in black
Why can't they be pleasant? Why can't they have a laugh?
He's got his hand in your chest, he wants to give you a duff
Well, secretly I think they want you all to kick off
They want arms flying everywhere
And bottles as well
It's just something to talk about
A story to tell, yeah

The reviews are completely mixed either love or hate and we're all into our own music so I've no problem with that. However the main criticism that gets on my nerves is the "self indulgent" tag.
People pick up an instrument or start a band because they are inspired by music. Wake up call to fans, it's not about you.

Yeah I think people are trying to validate their own opinion.

I just think it’s boring ****e.

Sounds a bit like Radiohead's King of Limbs moment.

Everything before brilliant and then they release this off whack bag of ****e that I think I've played twice ever.

Will give the Arctics new one a go though, although it doesn't sound like it'll be my thing. Is it on Spotify?

Yeah it's on there. That's how I listened to it.

Gave it a listen through.

Whilst reading the paper the first few tracks I didn't find too bad tbh with 4/5 having a mildly catchy chorus.

However the next track about monster trucks is absolute garbage.

Full on ****e and by the end of the track I got bored with the album.

That's its main problem.

0 playback ability.

Too dull and sluggish.

By definition musicians are self indulgent. I don't really see why anyone would use it as a weapon against any individual group because they pretty much all are. They wouldn't do it if they were not.
