The new Arsenal manager will be Luis Enrique
It's hard to judge how good he really is when he's only really managed one of the best clubs in the world with the best players. He did have minor stints with Roma and Celta but that doesn't tell you much.
He does play some very good stuff and should get the Arsenal players motivated and playing entertaining football. But this will be a much harder task than managing Barca, a team that was already well set thanks to Pep. Arsenal are far off from that and need significant improvement.
No thanks. Flattering for him that his own Chairman said he wouldn't stand in his way, but hopefully we are aiming higher than Brendan Rodgers
Enrique seems like a good choice IMO.

Seemed to be implied by Gazidis that they hadn't settled upon anyone yet. My guess is that they have a list of candidates now and I guess it's a question of working through each on. Having said that, i would be more than happy with most of the names bandied about, apart from Bodgers.
I agree much harder but Enrique will give Arsenal what they miss I think a team that works together and works hard to allow the better players to play.
Enrique would be a great appointment. He'd fit our natural style of attacking football too. Gazidis said today that they will appoint somebody who will build on the legacy of the style of football we play, so that kind of rules Simeone out imo.

I don’t know enough about Luis Enrique. How is he tactically? What about defensively?

It is impressive and I'm sure he would make us play better on the pitch. But he's going to have to come and change/fix quite a lot of things if he comes to us. He won't inherit one of the best teams in football history but a team with plenty of deficiencies. It's an exciting project in that regard, he gets to mould a team in his vision with great resources but not huge.
He'll need some time to do this which means having patience with him until he gets things in place, which is fair.
I think getting him in is a calculated risk and something worth going for.
Whoever comes in will inherit some very good players but not so good team. We have issues that need addressing from defence to midfield, which is quite a large task. But we seem to have a good structure in place with good resources to fix these issues. We just need a head coach competent enough to oversee these. Luis Enrique certainly looks good enough to do this with his Barca record.
Enrique is a big enough name to attract the best players, and we have a new team to do the negotiations so maybe an end to the days of haggling!
Enrique's record before Barcelona wasn't too hot. But he was managing Barca B, Roma and Celta Vigo (all with sub 50% winning records). His Barca record was unbelievable though. It's hard to know what to make of the guy. I think he was arguably a better manager than Pep when he was in charge of Barca although he won less trophies overall. My main concern is would he be able to organize a defense?
Sounds a bit like what Wenger had to face when he first arrived at the club. Similar narrative.
