Saw that. Unless it’s money why would he want to go? They’re obviously chucking money around like paper as they want cover for Sane. But my guess is Mahrez will be back on the bench once he’s fit again.
Shame that a team like Leicester can win the league and still be disrespected by so many of the players who achieved it
I think you are underestimating how good a player Mahrez is, and overrating the likes of Sane and Sterling. I've watched a lot of Leicester even this season, and Mahrez is a class act, there's only a handful of players in the league who can pull off some of the stuff he does. Sane and Sterling are both very good players no doubt, but it's easy to impress when you've got De Bruyne and Silva teeing you up every game. I'm sure if you put Mahrez in that side he could at the very least perform just aswell. Let's not forget the last time Mahrez was playing for a side top of the table, he was the PFA player of the year.
You can't expect your better players to stay with you now when teams competing in Europe come calling for them...
Not that, the handing transfer requests and trying to force transfers on deadline day like Mahrez and drinkwater and faking injury to force a move (Drinkwater) and Kante couldn’t wait to leave for a team not even in Europe. It’s the way they have gone about it. Tbf anyone out side the top 6 may as well pack up. It’s depressing
I hope that Leicester tell City to go away in the strongest possible terms. Like all teams in the PL they are not short of cash and getting a replacement anywhere near as good in 24 hours will be well nigh impossible unless you have got another from Ligue 2 tucked away in a cupboard ready to produce.
Anyone who genuinely believes players move for trophys and success is completely deluded. Playing football is Mahrez's job, so if another club are offering him more money to do the same job then ofcourse he's going to want to go. Trophys and success are a bonus, but the top priority for 99% of footballers is money.
Yet Mahrez is twice the player Sterling is. I also think Sane has a long way to go before he can be deemed as good as Mahrez. I'll be hugely pissed off if City sign Mahrez!
I said it a year or so ago but I think you need to focus blame towards your board. Showed a massive lack of ambition the summer after you won the league and that's had a domino effect on your key players wanting out. Although it's tasteless what Mahrez has done, especially so late in the window, I don't think you can blame him for wanting to leave a side that's likely to finish outside European places again to join a team on course to win the Prem and will be a strong contender for the CL too.
Every team has a price that they'll do business at though. Leicester are in a strong position, as like you say they are not short of cash. So if I was Leicester I would put a big hefty price tag on him, and see if City will pay over the top for him.
I hope so too. One to teach Mahrez a lesson for being a knob. Secondly to stick two fingers up at that ****, Pep, and actually force him to do a bit of coaching/ management by utilising his squad during Sane's injury, instead of panicking and throwing £60m about to fix it.
Taking it too personally John ... Sterling left Liverpool for Man City, Walker left Spurs ... at least Mahrez has actually achieved some silverware before making the 'big money' move ...
