Tim Vickery was just on the radio - and said he rates Carrillo and thinks he will do well here in England, especially as the focal point of the Saints team. For what it's worth, Tim said he didn't think Gaston Ramirez would work out in the Premier League.
Tim Vickery's word is pretty much gospel when it comes to South American football (and all football for that matter). The mans a legend.
It's those foreigners - they never have been good at spelling. Don't worry, they'll get it right (with a "J") when they print it on his shirt. Unless he's one of those poncey players who insists on having their first name instead, in which case it will say "Geedo", of course
Slightly annoys me that Dele Alli does that. I BET it's because he thinks it looks a bit like "Pele" too.
Quite a few do it don't they? Virgil and Cedric off the top of my head. Obviously the Brazilians as well, but that is slightly different
Very much knows his stuff with South American footy. That's not to say he'll be right 100% of the time but he's worth listening too.
Oh OK. It's so long since I've actually seen Sam play I'd have to watch a few games again to see whether he is suitable for that 'target man' role that we have so badly missed since Rickie and Pelle left. He certainly knows where the back of the net is though.
My last word on this, I well could imagine him signing for a Brighton or Newcastle and looking a very good (not prospect) player. Anyway, today is about a new guy, ready to sign, and its a big welcome from me!
My first reaction to watching those goals is that he seems to be a faster and more skilful Charlie Austin. Pretty much every goal was the type of goal Chaz scores, being in the right place at the right time when the ball pinballs around the box, following shots in to pick up rebounds and plenty of headers. I like the look of him, based on that video.
And hopefully, like Gabbi at first, he will play with confidence and freedom and score several goals before the nerves start.
I have a French friend one of whose old university buddies is now a sports journalist back in France. Last week I asked her to ask him about this Carrillo chap. Got this back; Two footed, mobile, strong. Gets goals.
Two footed, mobile, strong. Gets goals. _________________________ Best thing I have read for 24 days. Cheers Archers.
