There is no sense in buying a PL club unless it is to show off your wealth. The potential exposure to your investment is colossal unless you consistently reinvest. The deafening silence and lack of transfer activity from Gao scares the hell out of me. If Mansour is at one end of the takeover spectrum and SISU is at the other, Gao currently has far more in common with the latter than the former. Early days I know but it’s usually the early days that are a marker as to what to expect from a new owner. I do hope we wheel out a Robinhoesque signing in the next week after an announcement from Gao that he is taking control of transfers.

Mind those flying pigs.

If you want to make money from your football club, sell your football club. That's pretty well the only time you're going to see a profit.

Offer not valid if, like SISU (and seemingly Gao) you leverage the bejeezus out of the club...particularly if you then get relegated.

Just as a final say for the evening, give gao a chance. I know for a fact first hand it's very difficult moving money from China to a different country. A lot of red tape and government keeping an eye out for money laundering. I'm not saying it's coming, just it's not an instant thing.

For a long time now l have felt it all started to fall apart after the club got rid of NC and MP1 walked away as a consequence. We got through 2 years with RK but behind it all was a slow slide... NC might be vilified by alot on here but he was the direction that we lost with his demise...

Fire away...

Agree 100%

Not his money , not his club , aparrently treated some people poorly .

I would have him back yesterday !!!

Our pet journo now states that Promes is indeed the second player we're chasing:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/01/20/mauricio-pellegrino-focus-southampton-long-term/

If we aren't willing to pony up close to 30m, we're wasting our time and theirs. And we don't have time to waste.

Promes. This is like a cortese era pipe dream. He's too well known, too in-demand, too expensive, too good for us.

Just like gaston Ramirez was. I'll believe it when I see it but I'm not completely without hope.

Making signings ahead of tomorrow was never really a priority for me. Once we missed the boat to get them in the building in time to play Watford last week, the next important date became the Brighton game. And of course, that is deadline any way.

So if it takes us a few more days to get them over the line, I'm fine with that (although, naturally, the sooner they are here, the quicker we can begin working with them on the training field). But only as long as they get done. Whether us failing to get Theo was down to us or the player, the point is that it very much appears that we invested a lot of time but with no result at the end. We surely cannot afford to do that again, there simply isn't the time.

(We also surely want to avoid going into deadline day, and announcing three completely over-priced, bang average, panic buys.)

I see tonight we are bottom three; have not been there for a long time now... am struggling to see how we are to get out of this. In 2007 the English Rugby team ignored the coach after some matches in the World Cup Finals where tactics were so poor and took the matches under their control and got to the World Cup Final; time for some leadership in the dressing room; because if they rely on the club board and the clueless manager we are truely ****ed...

I thought one of the reasons it took so long for Kat to get a buyer was that she was looking for one that would take the club forward. I thought she had done a lot of due diligence and Gao passed muster. Instead, was that all just smoke and mirrors aimed at beguiling us? Should we be concerned that she is no longer on the board or is that her way of getting out of having to watch the dross we play :)

Are you an agent provocateur? Come on here for the first time and smooth talk us about Gao? Only joking

It didn't take her that long to find a buyer, I don't think. It took a long time for Gao to organize financing, and for us to find a loophole that would allow Gao to purchase the club after initially failing the fit-and-proper-person test.

There seems to be a strategy with buying Promes and Carillo ie winger crosses to tall striker who pounces like a gazelle to ahead it home, although reading reports on Carillo he sounds more like a wounded wildebeest, unlikely to make it any time soon. I like the sound of the chap Brighton signed yesterday.

Sounds like we are truly ****ed then :)

My contribution and as you can see I will never make a living as a poet or lyricist.

Where have all our players gone, long time passing?
Where have all our players gone, long time ago?
Where have all our players gone?
Tapped up by Scousers, every one!
When will we ever learn, when will we ever learn?

Where has all the money gone, long time passing?
Where has all money gone, long time ago?
Where has all the money gone? In a Swiss Bank every pound.
When will we ever learn, when will we ever learn?

Where has all the profit gone, long time passing?
Where has all the profit gone, long time ago?
Where has all the profit gone?
Gone to Hong Kong every pound!
When will we ever learn, when will we ever learn?

And when will new players come, long time passing?
When will new players come, long time ago?
When will new players come?
When we're outbid all the time!
When will Les ever learn, when will Les ever learn?

And when will half our fans be gone, long time passing?
When will all half our fans be gone, long time ago?
When will half our fans be gone?
They'll stop coming, very soon!
When will we ever learn, when will we ever learn?

And where will the team be playing, long time passing?
Where will the team be playing, long time ago?
Where will the team be playing?
In the Championship, very soon!
When will we ever learn, when will we ever learn?

That's the problem for me at the moment. It's like we are where we are because we don't have Peter Crouch to get on the end of our crosses. Um, problem is, I want to watch the saints of old, not stoke.

I still don't know what good he can do with a team. My gut feeling is if you gave him Man City he would turn it into west brom but if he's all we've got we can only hope for the best.

I always wondered what happened to Pete Seeger!

Ok here's my tuppence worth, I agree there needs to be change from top to bottom. It's not likely to happen for whatever reason, all this vitriol towards the manager, players and board room staff doesn't help. It's all good passing the blame to everyone and demanding them out. Perhaps a little look in the mirror as we are also partly to blame as fans. The difference now to the 90s is the fans used to be united and although this relegation fight is unexpected unlike in the past, it was not only le God that got is out of bother it was the relentless support of the fans which made the dell a hated place to come for visiting teams. Yes there's been mismanagement, yes some players don't seem to be 100 percent in it. But as with life, CONTROL THE CONTROLLABLE, our fans our support. Cheer dont jeer, make St Mary's a tough place to visit like the dell was. My apologies for lack of grammar and proper punctuation as well as the moan but had to air my view. Come on you saints!

Welcome aboard! I agree to an extent although the truth, as always, usually lives in the grey area.

I recently connected with someone who knows NC well, and describes him as a ‘cold killer’, but also someone who loved the club wholeheartedly. Not perfect, but also not as bad as the club spin on him afterwards.

So seriously what are the odds on us getting promes? Reading up on him he looks the perfect signing. Banging goals in, loads of assists but just a 30million hurdle to negotiate. I can't see it myself. Would we really up our record transfer from 18 to 30. Would be great to see and at the end of the day its not even half a VD. We can dream but i wont be holding my breath!
