Our transfer strategy in a nutshell Xy club say 'ok, we want 15 million for this player' and then Les tries to lower the price for three weeks, and then either pays that 15 mill they asked for in the first place, or some other clubs comes in and takes the player in front of our noses.
I'm the most pissed off person in Pissed-off Ville.....though I suspect Mauricio may be overtaking me.
I'm really hopeful and positive that in the next few days , something positive will happen . it does not have to be bringing players in ...
I just want to address this common myth that Saints were in relegation form after the EFL Cup final last season. The stats are PL 13, W 4, D 4, L 5, PTS 16, GF 13 GA 17 Four of those five defeats were against Spurs, Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal and there were creditable draws against Liverpool and Man Utd in those games. Now Puel supporters are often accused of re-writing history, but the stats prove that we were not that bad at the end of last season and certainly not poor enough to sack a Manager.
It does when you can't cross for toffee and the striker cant head a ball in the odd chance a decent cross does come in which is what we tried with Gabbi, and got nowhere. At least if we had a target man he may have scored a goal with his head or knocked it down for Gabbi
For a long time now l have felt it all started to fall apart after the club got rid of NC and MP1 walked away as a consequence. We got through 2 years with RK but behind it all was a slow slide... NC might be vilified by alot on here but he was the direction that we lost with his demise... Fire away...
3 Top 8 finishes and two trips to Europe, and a Cup Final don't just happen by accident. Yes you need some luck but recruiting etc has to be there. Cortese definitely got the ball rolling but we were heading to a dangerous place with him in charge in terms of debt etc. Cortese left 4 years ago, any influence he had would have ended after a year.
Ok here's my tuppence worth, I agree there needs to be change from top to bottom. It's not likely to happen for whatever reason, all this vitriol towards the manager, players and board room staff doesn't help. It's all good passing the blame to everyone and demanding them out. Perhaps a little look in the mirror as we are also partly to blame as fans. The difference now to the 90s is the fans used to be united and although this relegation fight is unexpected unlike in the past, it was not only le God that got is out of bother it was the relentless support of the fans which made the dell a hated place to come for visiting teams. Yes there's been mismanagement, yes some players don't seem to be 100 percent in it. But as with life, CONTROL THE CONTROLLABLE, our fans our support. Cheer dont jeer, make St Mary's a tough place to visit like the dell was. My apologies for lack of grammar and proper punctuation as well as the moan but had to air my view. Come on you saints!
Maybe, but Les Reed was always in the back ground when Cortese was here too. With Cortese not being snapped up for football roles since he left maybe Les Reed was the mastermind behind everything...
SAm Gallagher now has 5 in 7. Shame we can’t recall him, he can’t do any worse than our current options really
