Shame...

Stephen Parnaby leader of @East_Riding tells me in his opinion plans for a glass-lift tourist attraction at Humber Bridge aren't financially viable.
I think it was dependent on the hotel and office development to got alongside to make the money, but the hotel and office plans aren’t needed given the Bridgehead development on the other side of Ferriby Road is still to be built on the old golf course. And another factor was the associated loss of the car parks at the Country Park, which are used for events such as the Farmers markets, car rallies, marathons and other sports etc etc.

Still haven't been to any Papas yet.

Kind of put off by a range of customer views (majority I've heard are negative too) and also seeing their heads in the paper every few weeks.

Plus not keen on their expansion at all, I like chip-shops to be one-offs, not chains.

Although, hats off to them for feeding the homeless on Xmas Day.

I have a friend who runs it but I'm not crazy about it.

It's not bad. Decent fish and chips for a decent price. I'd definitely go and try it but I've heard the Bilton one isn't as good as the other sites (Willerby, Cleethorpes etc.)

Hang on - you don’t like seeing them in the paper every few weeks but then praise for them for what was a total PR stunt? Of course if they were really feeding the homeless purely out of charitable nature then they wouldn’t have contacted the media and arranged a snapper...

The Humber Bridge Board haven't given up, they still want to see it happen, Parnaby just doesn't think they'll pull it off.

They still gave up their own time on Christmas Day to feed homeless people. Does the reason behind it matter?

I didn’t complain about the reason. He said he doesn’t like seeing them in the press and then praised them for something that they did that he read about in the press.

Me too. Just puts me off.

Fair point - sounds contradictory bu

Their regular PR slightly irritates me but within this, I also acknowledge that a recent PR stunt benefitted some homeless people.

Hope this clarifies.
