I posted a few days back that I hoped Marti would become our Thomas Frank ie take us to the PL and actually stay!

I think Frank is incredibly wise. I'm guessing he's looked at many other PL managers who've moved to bigger clubs where it's ended in tears. A bird in the hand etc. Hopefully not a fantasy scenario.
That's all well and good, but has Frank actually been offered a bigger job than the one he's already got ? Brentford are now an established Premier League side and he's probably on very good money too. However , if a top 6 side or a big European side came calling, I'm pretty sure he'd be asking to speak to them. I'm just hoping Marti doesn't get any offers for a good while yet, but the better we do the more inevitable it becomes that it will happen. Unfortunately that's just the way it is !

I reckon it's now almost entirely a confidence thing. Look at how he pretty much sprinted the length of the pitch for our second goal. He might not be fully there yet but even partway there he has become an asset to the team again.

Yeah, maybe I was being a bit hard on him. He's still a way off his best, but certainly improving.

Field solid, Dozzell solid without being outstanding.
I don't want to start a row after such an enjoyable performance but I couldn't agree less. The central midfield is the one area Marti has yet to instill significant improvement. For the most part the game was going on around this pair and they looked laboriously slow. This in part explains why Hull had so many sights on goal. If we are to play the pressing game that Marti clearly wants then this has to change. I believe he can use Field despite his lack if pace but for life of me I don't see how Dozzell fits a high tempo game.

I can see how Dozzell makes the team, in training, in a less competitive arena, I am sure he looks great. He is the best long passer of the ball we've git and has a decent shot.

Unfortunately mentally he seems to always be a second behind play, when the opposition press he gets caught out far too often. His brain seems to be a bit behind his body.

I thought both did very well yesterday, especially in that Marti went from the 3 he has started most games with to just the 2 Field and Dozzell in midfield, an attacking line up and a risk playing as good a team as Hull. But though we conceded more possession it worked due to us getting more players in their box plus our good press and finishing, great Keeper work, defending and playing well out of Hull's high press. Dozzell did well both defensively and his quick mainly accurate passing was key in playing through their press. Field's awareness of threats was as good as usual and he did ok mostly on the ball, including an assist for Willock's goal. I expect there will be games again where Marti will prefer a more solid start with 3 in midfield, probably Dozzell, Field and Colbakk, EDB in reserve, especially in tough games away from home, but it was great to see it work yesterday with just the 2 of them.

We could not get out of our half in the first half as the midfield 2 offered nothing at all in terms of collecting and passing on the ball. Our only option was the odd punt out wide from the defence. By contrast Hull walked it up the pitch down the middle with their midfield wanting it and not just passing it back to a CB.
I forgive Field but Dozzell is sh1te and EDB needs a run as he has shown some promise.
Compare the laid back Dozzell to a laid back Faurlin.

Well that was very enjoyable. The difference is immeasurable.
There is a general aura that the team is organised and knows what it is doing. Under Ainsworth you always felt we were one pass away from a mistake and a goal.
Now everyone knows their place and what they are doing.

And above all, they are enjoying themselves and they want to play in the team ( and we the fans want to go and watch them). Whatever happens this season we must thank Marti for that.

Clarke-Salter is a solid calm and sophisticated/ neat player. He will become the best CD in the division. He and Cook are very good together.

Begovic had his best game for us, a number of good games and no mistakes with his distribution

Cannon was a bit exposed in the first half, but I think he is still coming up to speed.

Field solid, Dozzell solid without being outstanding. I agree Willock was quiet until his beautiful goal....but he was tracking back and harrying, he too is getting back to where he is . Smyth really does work for the team too, he is actually a pretty impressive player. And someone has taught Chair to be less selfish and become an assist master.

My last two points
Again ( 3rd goal following Larchech and Kelman vs Stoke) a goal was forced by a sub coming on (Armstrong) and harrying a player into making a mistake. Another revelation Marti has introduced!!!

Finally the enigma that is Dykes.... Even under this new regime , he just can't seem to get his goal, he gets to the far post, and can't turn it in ( Hull defended well) his headers are over. He works so hard, but the end result just is not there.

Hull were a well decent team. We did well...now let's do it again on Wednesday, because I do not think we will beat a resurgent Wednesday on Saturday

Good insights Beth.

I am just astonished at the speed of the transformation under the new manager. It is almost like flicking a switch and going from night to day.

I am very impressed, plus extremely pleased.

Bloody hell, that's like comparing Dykes with Messi!!

Dixon-Bonner should certainly start ahead of Dozzell in my opinion. I'm not certain about EDB's defensive capabilities, but then Dozzell seems to me to be a liability in that respect anyway. EDB's just a better player.

This is a nice read from a young aspiring football journo named Finlay Stubbs ...

OPINION: After becoming QPR’s new head coach Marti Cifuentes will be the man to bring the good times back to Loftus Road. – Sports Reports (wordpress.com)

That is a good read and provides more than a ray of hope...

A good peformance against Plymouth will further consolidate the team's improvement and hopefully get us out of the bottom 3 (and stay out for the rest of the season).

Wish he'd get an updated photo of LR without the old badge (nitpicking I know)

URssss

Chipper report after years of pain and disappointment. All for that.
Interesting stats about us having “…barely 30% of the ball, and attempted 332 passes with accuracy just above 70%”. Shows there is still more to come in terms of team performance. Even small improvement from these boys and with changes to come I’m sure then we can hopefully see a little more from this group in the coming weeks/months.
Tough couple of ‘scrappy’ 6pt’ers ahead of us. Here’s hoping we can keep our form going forward.

On another note, I notice there seems to be an improvement in our fitness. Just wondering if the new fitness coach is starting to make headway too.
