I see now they are second they aren't back in for him!

Today's Derby Telegraph...

Gary Rowett has recently spoken about the possibility of the Rams lodging a bid for the Dutch midfielder and has said: "I think the scenario is this - you can never look into the future and say we will be signing Maikel Kieftenbeld, because at the end of the day, he's Birmingham player.

"They've had a new manager go in and I'm sure with Maikel having played most of their games since and actually been one of their better players, in my opinion, over that period, will Birmingham want to lose one of their better players in the position they're in at the moment? I'd say probably not."

I just don't see the benefit of signing a player from a club that is actually doing worse than we are. Particularly not at the halfway point in the season when it's clear he's already played a large part of Birmingham's season. He's not had any influence over their current situation, so how will he improve ours? He probably already has that losing mentality ingrained with how Birmingham have done so far.

It's a different scenario buying players from a relegated club and having a pre season to work with them - like Maguire and Robertson. It can also go wrong like you could argue it has for Clucas and Jakupovic.

I find it a little bizarre that you'd write off a player, simply because he happens to be at a club doing badly.

I'd happily take Grabban or McGeady from Sunderland, or Madine from Bolton.

Kieftenbeld linked with Tigers again

Hull City and Sunderland are planning January bids for Maikel Kieftenbeld, according to the Mirror.

The Dutch defensive-midfielder is out of contract at Birmingham in the summer after joining from FC Groningen in 2015.

Kieftenbeld, 27, almost joined Championship rivals Derby on deadline day in August but the deal collapsed due to red tape.

Been rubbished by Adkins in an interview with Burnsy this afternoon.

But then by that logic there's no point buying lower league players either? We got Irvine from Burton and Clucas from Chesterfield.

Grabban yes, I believe I was the first to post that once Bournemouth indicated he was free to go for a permanent transfer. That is however a poor example as he's scored a lot for a really poor Sunderland side.

It's not bizarre, he's obviously a part of the problem at Birmingham.

No. That may be your logic, it's not mine. There's plenty of lower league players that have a career on an upward trajectory.

You'll have to do better than that - very poor example.

I wonder if there's someone on another clubs board somewhere, saying they shouldn't bid for Bowen, as 'he's obviously a part of the problem at Hull'.

But Kieftenbeld has been one of Birmingham's better players, as stated by our manager, some pundits and some others. You're all over the place here, it's well documented he's doing well individually but you're saying that because Birmingham are doing badly there's no point? What if they had a striker that had scored 20 goals already? The team doesn't define the ability of the player.

There are good players playing in poor teams. Are you saying that nobody would come in for Bowen? He's a good player in a poor team.

I'd be shocked if anyone signed bowen

He's had a very good half season but he doesn't come across to me as a player that can do it often
It's a half season wonder kinda thing to me
And i don't think hes influential enough in games

As i said, but i'd be shocked if someone tried to sign him
Perhaps In the summer if he continues playing well
As pl teams seem to just Hoover up talent these days, the plenty of chance.

Chelsea saw enough in hector to sign him...

I wonder what the profit margins are on chelseas conveyor belt, didn't they have 49 players on loan last season or so
99% of them won't play for chelsea, but selling for a few million each player must overlay the academy costs of players

He scores most of our goals. I'd say that's pretty influential :emoticon-0112-wonde
