Have you ever had a fight at 2am (you don't need to answer that)? You just do what needs to be done or you are the one he gets a good hiding.

Went to a cricket dinner with him as speaker once. Collis King and Alvin Kallicharan were on the top table. He started the speech with the "Why are Pakistanis useless at football" joke. It was met with silence, then booing. It went downhill from there. I passed him as he was leaving, shuffling along and chuntering with a Roy Cropper shopping bag hanging off his arm. He was a very sad figure.

A well known fish merchant was very friendly with our Freddie, and he staged, I think it was his 25 years after retirement luncheon for him at the Willerby Manor. I was invited, and enjoyed the whole occasion immensely. Mainly because "Bumble" was the guest speaker, and very good he was too, and just took the piss out of Freddie from start to finish, he even could imitate his voice. He had the place in stitches, but poor old Freddie didn't see the funny side at all miserable twat.

There's a statue of Fred by the canal in Skipton. The owner of a bar overlooking it told me something along the lines of "we fought tooth and nail to keep that ****ing eyesore away from here. he was right twat. nobody liked him."

Yes it was, I used to go to Peter's box at Headingley and Fred would always be in there getting free booze and food.

Thought the latest suspension for pouring a pint over Jimmy Anderson was a bid harsh. He was only doing the Ice Duckett challenge

Ha ha They had obviously been told after the Bairstow incident to behave themselves and not draw attention to themselves, and obviously doing it again is a bit stupid.

England win the toss and elect to bat first.

Malan and Bairstow have steadied the ship well and look pretty comfortable. New ball just taken

Malan gets his 100, 102 NO, with Bairstow on 68.

That's a great recovery from when we lost the 4th wicket

Certainly was, I fear the worse when Root got out, but Malan and Bairstow were imperious. Just hope they can stay together for the first hour tomorrow, then I feel we have a chance.

My prediction for tomorrow, 470/8 dec or 340 all out. Feast or famine for England these days!

We wont declare. we will get as many as we can. A ten or 20 for the las couple of wickets could make all the difference. they will swing the bat when it gets to 8,9 and 10.

Get above 450 and crowd the bat for the first hour when the convicts are in!
