It’s not a fixation from my point of view , but apart they do seem to get a bit overlooked imho . It’s like the powers that be areclooking for the next MP1 , we won’t get him . We need someone with the grit to really bollock the players etc , not sure MP2 is up to that . No it’s not all about bollocking , but a huge part is man management imho . And I think the British are usually good at that .
What evidence do you have to say the British are better at man management than non-British? Man management can be done excellently with or without a bollocking. Why won't we get the next MP1?
A. I don’t , just a feeling . B. Not in my experience , although I can only comment on the experience I have has as an employee of the same firm since 1983 . C . I think we lucked in there .
At the risk of being controversial..........I’m sorry to say I think the board has let the side down to a strong degree. They have gambled on the mediocre and it has not paid off. Yes I understand about cash restrictions etc. However the reality is of the players they have bought with few exceptions have been very mediocre. If we consider ourselves to be a top eight team we should have done better in the buying stakes just as the teams have done that are currently there. Sorry the Tadiics, Redmonds, longs et el are not consistent enough and the likes of Boufal and co are too much of a flash in a pan. It would probably be a better bet to totally regroup and if that includes relegation then so be it. Our current board have to be looked at as I feel Les Reed in particular is making the same mistakes he made before while at Charlton. Don’t ask me who I would replace him with I haven’t a clue.......just my opinion.
I believe the issues with the club are multifaceted. However, the performances have regressed over the course of the season. The club needs a refresh. Now the takeover is complete I see no excuses for the board not to make decisive action this window
Sackings in order of need: Les Reed Ross Wilson Katarina Liebherr The players in attacking roles (starting with Nathan Redmond) - I don't boo him on the pitch before anyone asks, but I can be honest about how crap he is down the pub. Eric Black Mauricio Pellegrino So my gut says 'out', but as buddy says above, it's a long way from solving the real problems even if he does go.
I've always rated Rowett but don't think it's the sort of appointment you make mid season, better off with a summer behind him if that makes sense?
I agree I'm not fussed whether they're British or not, and the main one I'd want would never join us.
Yeah not sure how accurate the reports were in the summer I read but seemed like De Boer was our first choice but chose Palace from memory. An "ITK" over on Saintsweb saying that we thought we were going to get Tuchel and that was why it took so long to sack Puel as we were making sure everything was sorted, then he backed out last minute and we were stumped on who to get and ended up with Pellegrino who was quite far down our list of choices. No idea how credible this info is as it sounds pretty far fetched to me.
For me he needs more time and to be honest I feel the main issues are above MP in recruitment and below MP on the pitch, a fair few players are just not performing as they have in the past. In most games we have created chances, well if MP has set them up a certain way and the chances have been created then what more can he do to put the ball in the net? We def needed improvements up front and that failed to happen, is that MPs fault? He currently has 1 point less than Puel at this stage last season. So not as bad as it probably feels and I know that Puel was still in all competitions but even so. I feel he needs more time and I'm sure the luck will change, esp with some solid additions in January.
That's the point lewebster, we are not creating the amount of good goalscoring chances this season as we were last season and we are certainly not threatening defences by probing, passing football at all (just 2 goals from passing moves all season). There has to a drastic change in our attacking play as we are just getting scraps from high crosses into the box and half chances on the edge of the box currently.
