Aye, indeed. You can imagine Baine interviewing them in a group. 'OK , who is the least ****est among you?' Karwanker says 'que?' McCoist - 'Aw fack orf man get tee ffuck.' Peter Reid - 'Calm down, calm down.' Walter Smith - '**** all catholics.'
Tried to get hold of Allardyce and Pearson but Sam was 'in a meeting' and Nige was visiting an ostrich farm.
Coleman never occurred to me at all. First reaction, I'd be happy with that. Anyone got good reasons against? Football reasons, being Welsh isn't a footballing reason
Don't want Coleman. His last job in English football was 7 years ago, with Coventry, who have similarities with us and he failed with them. He done okay with Fulham but that was over 10 year ago. He's 1/8 in the betting now. His odds were also slashed with the rangers jobs a few days ago so it's still not nailed on.
Interesting thing with those latest odds is the massive price on the second favourite. That’s the first time it’s looked like the bookies may no something, and I’m not sure how I’d feel about Coleman. Done great with Wales but how much of it has been the fortune of Bale and Ramsey. Did little previously. That’s a different kind of shift, you expect changes but second favourite would usually be around evens. 8/1 is a massive price on second in line.
Being Wales manager is a no-lose situation. No one expects anything of them, so string some good results together, and get a bit of luck along the way, and everyone thinks you're a hero. Just because he's got results out of a good generation of Welsh players doesn't mean Coleman's got what it takes to sort our lot out.
I'm not against Coleman at first glance. Comes across as someone who wont take any ****e off players. Seems happy bringing youth through. Even with Bale and Ramsey they got to the Euro semis so maybe he is good at overachieving which will suit us fine!!!
In fact I'll expand on that. No managers who've made thier name predominantly in international football. That rules O'Neil out too.
The bookies must be earning a fortune from us. Conspiracy theory that Martin Bain has shares in William Hill and is coining it in whilst he sits around for 3 weeks before phoning his mate Ally
Sunderland echo saying O'Neill has turned us down. Heckingbottom confirmed no approach has been made. What an absolute cluster ****.
Curious to know why you think that? Sacked by Coventry after their worst finish in 45 years in his last real stint in club management. Hes been pretty fortunate at Wales. Inherited Gary Speeds good work and a golden generation of Welsh players including Gareth Bale who has carried the team. People have joked they don't want Karanka because of his accent. Is there a worse sound than Welsh??? :-/
I've actually met some of these guys that have been mentioned. I've met Walter Smith although only briefly. He wasn't very happy that day as he was searching for Gazza who had gone awol. I've met Ally McCoist who is a really funny bloke. I've also met owld monkey heed at a talk in.
Heckingbottom confirmed it and has his weekly Barnsley press conference tomorrow. If he said “yeah I’ve spoken to them and it’s ongoing” he’d be hounded. He’s flat batted it. I reckon we’ve spoken to him and he’s doing the right thing by his club. Just an opinion of course. Echo say O’Neill turned us down whilst others say we haven’t spoken to him. Some papers say Heckingbottom turned us down. Who do you believe? I’ll just wait till I hear from the club as the papers seem to know nothing
