Even if he had scored 15 goals by now it still wouldn't justify his pricetag, as someone that watches Chelsea week in week out I believe the improvements he has made are noticeable.

Anelka may be past it, but he is way better than any other Spurs striker at the moment. Kalou doesn't get the goals he can or should because he is played out of position. The last time Kalou played as a CF - which is his best position - he netted a hattrick vs Atletico Madrid

Like I said, I'd take Defoe over either of them at the moment, for the reasons mentioned. Anelka WAS a very good player - not any more, though.

hmmm... interesting point, a member of the WC squad that struggles to get a game and a member of a Pool squad that missed out on the top four two seasons ago, and on Europe altogether last season (although they ran it fairly close once he left?)

But still, if Henderson is worth 20m having done f'all, then Modric has got to be at least double that, surely?

Torres scored the winner in a cup final of a major European competition and is idolised in his home country, when Henderson has done that then maybe.

Liverpool have inflated the market hugely

As idolised as Villa? Or even Fibreglass?

I think not.

I was in Spain during the Euro's and I can tell you for a fact Torres is more worshipped over there and I saw more Torres shirts than Villa.

Fabregas moved to England when he was 15 so he is almost a stranger to some and isn't yet a first team player for Spain. The advantage Torres has is that he hasn't played for either Real Madrid or Barcelona which is often something that has divided the camp in the Spanish national side <ok>

I was in Spain 3 weeks ago, and I saw more Villa, Fabregas and Xavi shirts than I did Torres - mostly because I didn't see a single Torres shirt.

And speaking to the locals, none of them thought anything of Torres AT ALL

In what world is Modric worth £50m?

In a world where Torres is worth 50m to score 1 goal, and where Jordan flipping Henderson is worth 20m

Difference is Torres has proved himself at the highest level. Henderson never has

How did DL get so confused and turn this how popular is Torres in Spain debate?

Modric is worth £50million coz we can't replace him with anyone as good and Chelsea deserve to pay as much as possible.

Levy would lose all cred in the football world and would look a complete muppet if he sold to Chelsea

Wenger said Nasri and Fabregas wouldn't be leaving this summer though.

If players really wanna go then let them go, just make sure we get the best possible price.

the world in which Modric is worth 50 mill is this one Torres was sold for that much ,and modric is at least twice the player, and better than anyone Chavs have got

It depends where you are in Spain. Torres used to play for one of the Madrid teams. Therefore, if you are anywhere near Barcelona, for instance, you ain't gonna see too many Torres shirts. The reverse is also true. There''s not exactly a lot of love lost between the two!

It's different though. One of the reasons why Espanyol isn't as warmly felt by locals in Catalonia as Barcelona is because Espanyol was seen as a sympathiser and ally of the Franco (Castillian) regime.

Real Madrid has always been seen as the Governments team, with Atletico seen as more of the rebellion team of the Franco era.

As they say the enemy of my enemy is my friend, I think that is true of Atletico Madrid and Barca, but also true of Espanyol and Real Madrid <ok>

More fuel for the fire.

Tottenham's assistant manager Kevin Bond tells BBC Radio 5 live that Luka Modric is not for sale and could be fit for Monday's trip to Manchester United. He also says he expects striker Emmanuel Adebayor to join the club and replace Robbie Keane. "It seems like that's more than speculation," Bond said. "From what I can gather I think we're trying to do the deal. It looks like he's [Adebayor] going to come in and replace Robbie Keane, and it would strengthen our squad if it's able to be done."

If our coaches can drag themselves away from the media there is a football team that would like their input.

it seems the other way round, the reporters should leave the coaches alone.instead of hanging around asking everybody what happening with Modric

In the part of Spain where I live (The South East) I can assure you they don't differentiate. The vast majority of the locals detest anything & everything Catalan. Obviously, there is great rivalry between Real & Atletico - just as there is between Spurs and Arsenal. Barca, however, don't consider Espanyol as competition.

Disagree, it's the reporters job to get stories and interviews whereas it's the job of our management to concentrate on getting the team performing. With Redknapp and Bond so keen to offload their fears and worries is it any surprise the media comes calling.
