I was in Spain during the Euro's and I can tell you for a fact Torres is more worshipped over there and I saw more Torres shirts than Villa. Fabregas moved to England when he was 15 so he is almost a stranger to some and isn't yet a first team player for Spain. The advantage Torres has is that he hasn't played for either Real Madrid or Barcelona which is often something that has divided the camp in the Spanish national side
I was in Spain 3 weeks ago, and I saw more Villa, Fabregas and Xavi shirts than I did Torres - mostly because I didn't see a single Torres shirt. And speaking to the locals, none of them thought anything of Torres AT ALL
How did DL get so confused and turn this how popular is Torres in Spain debate? Modric is worth £50million coz we can't replace him with anyone as good and Chelsea deserve to pay as much as possible.

It depends where you are in Spain. Torres used to play for one of the Madrid teams. Therefore, if you are anywhere near Barcelona, for instance, you ain't gonna see too many Torres shirts. The reverse is also true. There''s not exactly a lot of love lost between the two!
It's different though. One of the reasons why Espanyol isn't as warmly felt by locals in Catalonia as Barcelona is because Espanyol was seen as a sympathiser and ally of the Franco (Castillian) regime. Real Madrid has always been seen as the Governments team, with Atletico seen as more of the rebellion team of the Franco era. As they say the enemy of my enemy is my friend, I think that is true of Atletico Madrid and Barca, but also true of Espanyol and Real Madrid
More fuel for the fire. Tottenham's assistant manager Kevin Bond tells BBC Radio 5 live that Luka Modric is not for sale and could be fit for Monday's trip to Manchester United. He also says he expects striker Emmanuel Adebayor to join the club and replace Robbie Keane. "It seems like that's more than speculation," Bond said. In the part of Spain where I live (The South East) I can assure you they don't differentiate. The vast majority of the locals detest anything & everything Catalan. Obviously, there is great rivalry between Real & Atletico - just as there is between Spurs and Arsenal. Barca, however, don't consider Espanyol as competition.
Disagree, it's the reporters job to get stories and interviews whereas it's the job of our management to concentrate on getting the team performing. With Redknapp and Bond so keen to offload their fears and worries is it any surprise the media comes calling.
