This also wouldn't have any impact on sales or purchases from abroad, the likely destination for players like Abel or Turbo.
As I've been saying for years now, there's never a lack of buyers. It's an absurd myth that only Premier League clubs can be sold. There's always someone interested in buying City. The stumbling block is whether the asking price is too high...
I don't think people were saying only EPL clubs can be sold, it was more about being able to sell at a price the Allams would accept, and that was thought to be only whilst we were a EPL club. As it now appears, selling the family silver has generated a large amount which they will have taken back to offset the loans. As OLM pointed out they must have taken back now in the region of £50M, with interest they have received on the loans, if they could sell at £50M they have done pretty well out of their venture into owning the club.
That's right, but the big carrot hanging there is the money in the Premier League. If they can keep the running costs in the Championship down to a reasonable level and scrape a promotion the value of the club goes up (double) another 100 million for been there for a season and then more parachute payments.
Good point, but it has been clear for a long time that, like a lot of other things they had said, that was a load of bull ****.
He pointed out they "might" have taken out in the region of 50m, not they must have.....its all guess work until accounts have been filed and we can see. I'll stick by my gut feeling....they won't sell because ehab loves the "I own a football club" line to much, it's an extension to his ego, imo if they do sell it will be after the cash cow of sales and parachute payments dry up
There has never been a lack of interested buyers. The stumbling block is if these 'interested parties' have any money or not ? Any chancer can cobbled together a deal with a minimal down payment and the rest in instalments depending on the clubs league position at the time which is really attempting to buy the club with the clubs income. No-one would accept a deal like that unless the club were in dire financial difficulties ( or the owners were) and a sale was needed at any cost. City are not in that position. The only people who had the money were knocked back by the PL 'fit and proper persons' ruling.
You may well be right, I think he is on an ego trip, however the attraction to a potential new buyers are the highlighted income. Once they have dried up, the club as a whole is worth much less.
I can't help thinking back to the Jarvis tweet sometime ago when he cryptically mentioned that it's very difficult to purchase a club currently up for sale when the owners don't actually want to sell it ! I got the distinct impression he was referring to our current incumbents.. while I would like to hope a deal can be done .. I do feel Ehabs ego will be the stumbling block
i tend to believe(and pray)that they will sell before the parachute payments end because once they've ended someone has to pay the bills and that would have to be the owners, and running a football club isn't cheap, unless they've been studying the Blackburn Model.
What a convenient coincidence for our playboy owner who doesn't want to sell, that all the people who want to buy us have no money, while other clubs are changing hands left, right and centre. But it can't be anything to do with his reluctance to sell can it? Nope, just a happy coincidence for lucky old Ehab. Nothing to see here.
Changing hands 'right, left and centre' are they ? Like who ? How many of those don't own the ground they play from and share it with another code ? I can think of Reading and just lately Southampton who have been sold, both own their stadiums and considerable infrastructure added to it. Hull City ? you get a modest training ground, a few players registrations and a fickle fan base......... Nothing to see here ? Not if you continue to have your eyes shut they wont be.
So you're saying the club isn't worth much. Doesn't really support your preferred view that the 'chancers' just don't have the money does it? Funny how Chien Lee has managed to run other clubs yet doesn't have the money for little old us with our lack of infrastructure. I get it; the line Ehab sends home is that the nasty investors are all chancers and try as he might he just can't find someone to buy it. But he does want to sell, honest.
I don't know why anyone looking to buy a Championship club with guaranteed parachute money would choose us over Sunlan.
Sunderland's wage bill last season was £83m, the parachute money will go nowhere there, anyone taking over would have to throw millions at it from day one. Long term, they look a far better opportunity, but the purchase price and funding required would be much higher.
I'm saying the club is worth at least the future worth of the parachute payments. As I'm not on personal terms with Chein Lee, like you, I have no idea why he hasn't bought Hull City, maybe you should direct that question at the Premier League, if it was him who's consortieum had a member who didn't fit their criteria of 'fit and proper persons' ?
