Welcome on board Mayo. Hope we don't go the same way as Tyrone against a younger, faster, hungrier team.
Welcome aboard Mayo man! Have a look back over the last few pages and let me know if there's anything you can help us with please. Updated roll call: Ciarrai, Twins, Swords, Dens, Turbo, Corrib, Inkedupp, Belfast, Kingdom, MOS, Dublin, NUTS, Rebel, Stan, Kilkenny, Tramore, the Clonmany Three, RCB, CORKeR, Mayo... Who else (apart from Mrs. Tooting)?
Ive been running my own personal crusade for the last few years to get QPR over here for pre season. When the club had Q&A sessions a few years ago, I always posed the question of a pre season tour but that would be as far as it would go.Before the F1 boys took over, some of the answers I got for it not happening were no money, or we'll certainly look into it. I once met GP in the club shop before a game and told him about all the Irish R's that travelled over on a regular basis. He told he his wife was Irish (bullshit I reckon) and they certainly would do a tour ....................if I paid for it or got a sponsor to cover it! Needless to say my regard for the man went lower than an antâs arse after that conversation. As regards a meet up, I was one of the founding members of www.iqpr.org. The idea was first mooted on a flight back from a famous day at Luton (0-0 against 9 lutonians) We contacted all the IRish R's on the various message boards at the time and arranged a meet up in Athlone (centre of Ireland!) on a Staurday afternoon. It was well attended by about 15 R's from north and south of the border. Maybe if we organised an overnight stay incorporating one of the live TV games???
Hello QPR CARLOW calling!!!! Great debate on here guys, Like Mayo (ola Brendan) I was one of the founding members of www.iqpr.org, back in the day when we were poor!!!! Slan Leat Flavio agus Bernie!!!!! www.iqpr.org @weareqpr please log in to view this image
And advertised on twitter! =================== QPRnot606 not606 Any more #Irish #QPR out there? - not606.com/showthread.php… #Ireland
Welcome Carlow! Mayo / Carlow: Just read your comments above. Invaluable experience that we can build on together with iQPR (just had a roam around the site, loads more Irish Rangers on there aren't there!). Hope you both feel free to come on here any time and get stuck in! As for trying to develop your earlier attempts at tying lines between Rangers and Ireland, I think the first step is getting the new board and marketing manager Mr Beard, to understand and recognise the deep rooted connections and the huge potential involved. Thereafter tours / friendlies become more of a possibility. I take Paladini's glip response to Mayo as a bit of a challenge tbh. Between us finding sponsorship for tours, friendlies, open coaching sessions might not be as difficult as it might seem. One of the next steps is certainly to go looking for a few famous names to help boost any campaign in this direction. Just need to keep working together on this. Taking out the Flavio and Bernie bits, I take it that 'Slan Leat Flavio agus Bernie!!!!!' basically means good riddance?! wasnt there a supporters club in Cork a good few years ago ..fella called Greg o Keeffe ran it as far as i recall
There are so many irish on different sites, we really should try and get a new Irish R'sssssss supporters club going. It wuld have to be based out of Dublin me thinks. We could arrange to go to 4-5 games a year and take it from there
