www.iqpr.org http://www.iqpr.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=685 Subs for the 2011-2012 season are â¬15, this helps pay for the website
Just signed up. Is there a link for us to pay the subs. Does everyone meet up now and again to watch matches or travel. When i get back next year i will be living in monaghan so would be willing to travel. Working away with my kitchen commander to get permission for me and my son to fly home for one home game. In the balance at the moment. What part of carlow are you from?
Nice one Corrib. Them guys ain't forgotten at all... well not by me at least (60s and 70s). Jumping on Murphy's trucks on Kilburn High Road looking for a 'start', Prince of Wales, the Crown in Cricklewood ('Irish Embassy'!) and/or Galti or Forum weekend nights, Rangers or Arsenal on Saturdays, weddings and Mass at Quex Road etc. etc.. Yeah, MacAlpines Fusiliers - wellies in the week, dark blue suits and white shirts at weekends! Blue remembered hills indeed... Ain't things changed?!
Sorry about last post. Bit indulgent I know. Clip took me back! Sending the draft letter to your PM box within the next 30 minutes Kingdom (I'll stick one in for Mark, Mayo and Carlow while I'm at it).
Not sure if this is well known but, QPR do send the Under 16's over to Derry for the Foyle cup. This was the second year they have taken part. It seems tata after so many appearances in the Foyle Cup the club can be invited to bring an older group to play in the Milk Cup. Last season Marc Bircham was in charge and the lads were beaten on pens in the final played at the Brandywell. This year Kevin Gallen was over and they lost in the quarter final. They always play six or seven games and my two boys and myself went to all the games last year and most this year. Very enjoyable week it is. There is also a QPR scout based in a town near me (Buncrana) who travels across the North West and the six counties looking for talent. Ian Dowie was the guy in charge when this was put in place as he realised the abundance of talent available over here.
Thanks Brix , ................ John Murphy a man from Dingle in the county of Kerrry.................... where else http://www.theforgottenirish.org/
cavanrebel, I think greg lived in mayfield and was in the Irish army I remember writing to him alright but that was about 20 years ago. no idea if he's still there or involved with the supporters club
Very interesting Clon, thanks for that. Noted the Bircham and Gallen possibilities, as indeed must be Paddy Kenny and Shaun Derry (where else would you get a name like that!). Anyone know if Alan Mac's still around, maybe on Twitter? The under 16s tournament in Derry is certainly something to build upon. Btw - saw you coming earlier - and left a copy of the draft letter in your PM box as well (find Private Messages just above the 'Q' of the QPR banner image). As with Corrib's 'video', showing, really, where it all started from our (later) generations points of view, every bit of detail is useful in building up evidence of the Ireland to London community ties. There were loads of Irish guys (with and without kids) who used to go to Rangers when I first went in the later 60s - we were cheaper than Arsenal then!
sorry meant to add my mate lives in cork and organises football trips through his travel agency. if a few of us were serious about going over I could ask him to give us a price but maybe a meet up here 1st might be the best option? the floors open to suggestions again.
Letter is a great idea. By the way, Steve and Kevin Gallens family are from the Ballybofey area of Donegal
alan McDonald is back living in northern Ireland as far as I know, if we did have a meet in Dublin for example we could enquire through the club would he be prepared to come down for a meet and greet with the fans? (long shot I know..)
I went to the same school as the Gallens. Obviously I have no contact with them now. I played in the school first 11 with Joe and Steve. The other side of the family is Mayo. Joe was a fantastic footballer. Can you send on a copy of that letter if possibe.
