I would like to apologise for starting the conversation about straw, or straws.
Can we keep this thread about the football now? Let's get through to the end of the summer window, when hopefully, things round here will get a little more stable.

You sowed the seeds, now we reap the harvest.

Does the Saints board even have mods? Finding a Van Dijk post is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Someone needs to sort the wheat from the chaff.
Probably have to go back a couple of weeks to when the transfer was still current <ok>

Not just yet, if they manage to sell Coutinho they may come back with a decent offer.
Manage to sell.? They're more desperate to keep him than we are with VVD. There are articles asking if Liverpool can afford to let go of him.

I always think, in these situations, how strange it is that there are no articles written about 'Can Saints afford to let players go' when other clubs come raiding. Usually there is the odd article, months after the event, whinging about '...if only Saints could keep their players what a force they'd be...' YES, WE KNOW THAT. Thanks for pointing out the BLEEDING OBVIOUS.

And it would help if the same media weren't quite so keen to sell them for us in the first place.

It's quite obvious isn't it though? Where we are and realistically can expect to get in the football food chain is way below Liverpool. They should expect to be able to keep their best players, we can only hope we can

Well not really, the only teams who can do that are the likes of Barcelona. Liverpool are nowhere near the best in England let alone Europe. They are a selling club too and have been for years.

They are a selling club only to the top tier. We are below them so are a selling club to the tier Liverpool are in. If a player from Saints proves himself at somewhere like Liverpool then the next step would be on to a Barca.

Agreed but you said they can expect to keep their best players. They cannot just like we cannot.

I guess you were at Bestival then. I hope Leftfield were as good as they were performing Leftism in Barrowlands a few months back. They blew my mind! Brian Wilson is also here next week but I plumped for Pixies instead. In an effort to stay on topic, I tried my luck with the Mrs for a shot at going to Brian Wilson too but with my brownie points spent, I was just clutching at straws.

Off topic but Brian Wilson was awesome. Just so many great tunes and a real legend. Emotional
I love Leftfield but we couldn't face trawling through the mud anymore so went home
Would have been better if the site had been more strawy
