    I guess you were at Bestival then. I hope Leftfield were as good as they were performing Leftism in Barrowlands a few months back. They blew my mind! Brian Wilson is also here next week but I plumped for Pixies instead.

    In an effort to stay on topic, I tried my luck with the Mrs for a shot at going to Brian Wilson too but with my brownie points spent, I was just clutching at straws.

    I beleive that in this case 'straw' would be being used as an adjectival noun, to describe something more precisely, like a blue car, which further describes the noun 'car'. Or 'boring old pedant', further describing 'old pedant', or green coat, as in "I'll get my green coat now" :bandit:

    'Blue' is an adjective too. Adjectives describe nouns. That's their function. There is no other type of adjective.

    All the examples you give are adjectives.
