And that just about sums it all up, those who think they are in the affluent areas on the outskirts certainly distance themselfs from the City of Hull. And yet when there is something going on in the city they are more than willing to go even though they contributed nothing financially ( I know tourists bring money to the city shops bars etc ) but you know what i mean.
My old stomping ground as a kid was the OPE and NHE borderland with Cottingham and the difference was clear to see, but go around the side of Cott to Bacon Garth and it was just the same as NHE appart from the tag line "we live in Cottingham you know"
Fairly sure the same is to be found in the East and West of the city.
So after decades of shopping in Hull, going out in Hull and supporting Hull City it makes my money a tourist s money. Get that chip off ya shoulder.

As you like Hull so much you would have no objection to becoming part of a greater Hull? I think it's those who live in the suburbs (sorry out lying villages ) that have the chips.

There are whole areas of London where Somalis, Bulgarians, Turks etc etc are each other's throats using all sorts of weapons and I doubt something as daft as garden shears would be used used. An AK47 or Gloch 17 perhaps but a pair of Black and Decker garden shears?

Was London on the list?

No. But it should have been.

Have you actually read any articles about it before rushing to give your opinions?

No.
Have you posted any.
My comment came after this post, not rushed into giving opinions on any articles.

Been said plenty of times on here but the tight city boundaries make a massive difference to these sort of things, in many ways.

Hull’s image and broader perceptions of its administration has meant that a lot of your more affluent ‘outskirts’ have distanced themselves from Hull, plus these places seem to have more of a self-identity than say a Didsbury or a Chorlton does in Manchester therefore desire to retain an idea of independence from the city.

All of which misses the point.

Apparently they asked residents what they thought of their city. Plenty of Hull residents are negative about their city. As are residents of other places.

Middlesbrough should be added to those you mention. And Leicester. And Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley, Blackburn, Bolton, Preston, Burnley...
..Swindon..

I guess you can find a negative loser in every town, it's just that you don't expect their skewed views to be given credence.

There's probably someone in , say, Prague, who constantly rubbishes the locals, the council, the litter, the drinking etc

That said, it says a lot about the mentality (copyright Phil Brown) of these polls that hardworking post industrial towns that have contributed much to the wealth and prosperity of this country are held up for ridicule and sneered at by know nowt suburban snobs from places such as Hinckley and Stevenage.

Bland dormitory towns for commuter drones looking down their noses at people who have forged the history of this country.

Appalling misplaced snobbery.

A huge art installation could be heading for Trinity Square for the climax of Hull's UK 2017 City of Culture programme.

Subject to securing planning permission, 'Hall for Hull' will feature 16 six-metre high steel columns placed in a grid outside Hull Minster.
Clad in galvanised steel mesh, the columns are being designed as one of the flagship projects for 2017's closing Tell The World season.

Each one will have space inside for mini-exhibitions and displays while the installation as a whole is expected to provide a backdrop for a number of outdoor events.
