Yet Hull recently got voted the second worst place to live in England apparently.
Dover came first.
Who makes this stuff up?
That was based on asking residents thought about their own city. Negativity in Hull? Never! Us East Yorkshire folk would have been more complimentary.
You can tell it is rubbish as there is no way Hull or Dover are worse than the hell hole that is Luton. Or Bradford, Rochdale and a lot of other places.
On me travels around this great and splendid land following the Tigs...I've been to some right cesspits. Watford springs to mind. Parts of South London make Hull look like Beverly Hills..
The aforementioned Luton, parts of Liverpool and Leeds have some nice areas, but plenty that are not. Most of these so called surveys are made-up by people like Kelvin MaKenzie and his ilk...Total made-up BOLLOX

Apparently they asked residents what they thought of their city. Plenty of Hull residents are negative about their city. As are residents of other places.
Middlesbrough should be added to those you mention. And Leicester. And Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley, Blackburn, Bolton, Preston, Burnley...
Been said plenty of times on here but the tight city boundaries make a massive difference to these sort of things, in many ways.
Hull’s image and broader perceptions of its administration has meant that a lot of your more affluent ‘outskirts’ have distanced themselves from Hull, plus these places seem to have more of a self-identity than say a Didsbury or a Chorlton does in Manchester therefore desire to retain an idea of independence from the city.

I've never seen such a concentration of ****ness as Freeman St. 8 in a morning there's half a dozen boozers open with dropouts stood outsidesmoking ganj every single day.
Bloody hell it's not changed a bit since I used to go there in the 80's
yeah so much that when the light show was on you could not get parked anywhere near cottingham railway station. Right snobs us.

All those polls are bullshit. One minute we're one of the top ten Cities to visit in Europe, the next we're the crappest place to live in Britain.

And that just about sums it all up, those who think they are in the affluent areas on the outskirts certainly distance themselfs from the City of Hull. And yet when there is something going on in the city they are more than willing to go even though they contributed nothing financially ( I know tourists bring money to the city shops bars etc ) but you know what i mean.
My old stomping ground as a kid was the OPE and NHE borderland with Cottingham and the difference was clear to see, but go around the other side of Cott to Bacon Garth and it was just the same as NHE appart from the tag line "we live in Cottingham you know"
Fairly sure the same is to be found in the East and West of the city.
Just been into town to have a look at the "Paper City" exhibition. Just the kind of great little event to potter around for an hour or so and then go on to enjoy the refreshment opportunities in Humber Street. The area was buzzing again with families of all ages, its bloody brilliant to see.
I saw yesterday that Martin Green is staying on past the end of the year to try and make Hull a permanent centre/city of excellence for the arts. More power to his elbow I say.

The person they quoted in that article said he moved when they started to fight with shears on his estate. **** all to do with people living on the outskirts. Every city has people living on the outskirts.
The pertinent point is that the person moved, i.e. He doesn't live in KUH now. So how does that validate his view.
There are whole areas of London where Somalis, Bulgarians, Turks etc etc are each other's throats using all sorts of weapons and I doubt something as daft as garden shears would be used used. An AK47 or Gloch 17 perhaps but a pair of Black and Decker garden shears?
