We've got players signing and extending contracts not to mention a new manager but we have yet to see any of them. If we are to believe all the reports we seem to have a bit of a backlog of announcements and videos.

Oh nearly forgot the new owners!

We've been tapping up. Hear we took his mum and dad out to the best restaurant in Bury. Would have cost us £1.26 with a cup of tea. Money to burn at SFC, mate.

Took him to the fairground as well! Offered to buy him an ice cream but the flake was too much. Enquiry from Liverpool on its way!

Oh come on. Name a club that does injury better than us. "Send us your crocks, we'll look after them" should be writ large under the words "Southampton Football Club"

Is this enquiry as in "Come 'ed, lah. There's £10 grand in that envelope."

It isn't true that you can buy a house for £10k in Bury. The whole of Bury yes, not just a house.

EDIT: My profuse apologies to the good people of Bury. I spent a week there one afternoon, and despite the fact that I couldn't understand a word, found the people to be charming. Oh, and Guy Garvey hails from Bury, so that makes the place OK by me.

Bury has a very, very fine market. A Weatherspoons that was an Art Deco style cinema of some considerable charm. Oh, and a train that turns into a tram when it reaches Manchester...

That's when they saw Kopp and Van Dyke on the Ghost train and realised he was being tapped up.

I must admit, I was very ambivalent about Cedric until I went to the Swansea game at the Liberty. I was only a few rows back, almost behind the goal and Cedric was an eye-opener to me that night. He worked his little socks off, haring down the wing, quickly coming back to defend and seemed to be always thinking. I've been a huge fan since that night.

I said before that I couldn't see him coming here, but a swap deal for Bertie would suit both clubs very well and we would still have two England U21 left backs at the club.

I spent an afternoon in Bury once as well. We were staying in Rawtenstall (yes, honestly!) and were looking for something to pass the time away on a wet afternoon, so the wife's sister-in-law suggested we go on the steam railway. This we did, only to find that there was a World War II special fun day on. Literally everyone else on the train apart from us was dressed in 1940's clothes, including uniforms from every Allied nation and all the Axis powers as well. There was an SS general sat in the seat opposite us, chatting to some American paratroopers. On top of that, at every station, there were Vera Lynn and Andrews Sisters soundalikes singing away.

Then we arrived in Bury, the end of the line in every sense. We found a pub to have lunch in near the railway station, only to find that World War II, or indeed World War I, hadn't happened yet in Bury. An interesting afternoon!

While I feel guilty to some extent about poaching the best young talent from lower division sides for pennies on the dollar, I am heartened by the fact that someone else would have done it if we didn't, so **** it. Sign all the kiddies!
