The other difference is that players like Alderweireld and Bertrand were relatively experienced, in their mid-twenties and looking for moves. Rather different to loaning a teenager who needs experience.

Whoever does leave, can we just drag out negotiations so that they don't join their new club and get a full pre-season in which to bond with their new team mates, or settle into the team?
Seriously, it's bad enough that they go, but let's just make it as difficult and as drawn out as possible.
