I don't care about Leeds fans from Leeds itself. It's their fans that turned their backs on City & who latched onto them winning from Hull and East Yorkshire, those who also belittled City when they were in Europe and we were in the doldrums and financially buggered, who i dislike.

Hull Whites are bellends, the lot of them.

you may find some people who follow Leeds from Hull never went to watch Hull at all.

Is that not implied in what i said?

Oh this team isn't winning, it's financially ruined, looks like the money men are ruining them, the team isn't any good and the ground is old and isn't getting renovated. But hang on, this team have just won the league, they're in europe- playing rangers, barcelona, real madrid & valencia & it's only an hour down the road.

I'm sure you're fans use the same argument about Man Utd fans from Surrey (yes that old argument) and Liverpool fans from Leeds. On a personal level, i know a few Hull Whites and get on with them, but when it comes to football and we play them any Leeds or top4 memorabilia gets my back up.

That's why i suppose it's not reciprocated with Leeds fans from West Yorkshire and they don't see it as a rivalry between us.

Thank you thats the first time i have seen any quote that says Leeds dont see any rivalry between us.

I do in as much as it's a Yorkshire derby, but I don't get the level of hatred we seem to get from other clubs in the area. It's the reason we always did badly against Huddersfield, they just cared more than we did.

I wouldn't say there's no rivalry between us. Most City fans are aware that Leeds don't see us as one of their top rivals but to say there's no rivalry is simply untrue, i know a fair few Leeds fans and admittedly the ones that are from Hull look forward to this game more than the ones that are from Leeds but all of them see this as a genuine derby when it comes round, though again i imagine the 'rivalry' probably kicked off a bit more from your end when we had that relegation battle between us a few years ago (who went down? ;))

Anyway I might know a bit more about what Leeds fans think about our rivalry after tonight because there's a very strong chance if i go i'll be taking my mate's ticket (in the home end)
Best be on my guard but it's going to be hard to hide my joy when the Fryatt's third goes in :bandit::bandit::bandit:

I personally don't really see it stretching beyond any other Yorkshire derby, I'd say games against both Sheffield clubs, Bradford and Huddersfield, maybe even Burnley for fans from the Skipton area, are all more derby-ish for us.

Golaccio, I think that's a very parochial view to take. People will always support the more successful team from down the road, even if it's considered heresy in their hometown. Thousands in Leeds support Man U and Liverpool and still claim to be proud Yorkshiremen and proud Loiners who love their city as much as Leeds fans do. And I can kind of accept that. I guess you just have to accept sometimes that football is too powerful to be restricted by boundaries. Success is magnetic, and I'll bet you there are people who are Leeds born and bred who support Hull. It's not a rare sight to see someone parading round the city in a black and amber shirt these days. You win some, you lose some. I'd be a very bitter man indeed if I begrudged the team affiliation of half the people living in my city!

A VERY GOOD POST AND TO A POINT I ALSO AGREE WITH WHAT YOU SAY. MY HATRED OF LEEDS GOES BACK TO THE DON REVIE ERA WHEN I WAS AT SCHOOL. Everyone and i mean everyone (ok, 99%) was a Leeds fan back then. It got rammed down your throat each and everyday. From the age of 10 i have always hated Leeds as a football club. Whilst i accept there success back then and there quality BUT to have it rammed down your throat everyday was awful. Now i just laugh at the the thousands of Leeds fans who still think they are a big club. They are Not. The past means nowt.
FOOTBALL IS OF THE NOW, SAD BUT TRUE.

I'm rather keen on hanging to our chairman, though unfortunately, I fear we might well lose him shortly.

Why on earth would that happen then ? Just becasue he has bought the rugby club so many people are looking way beyond what will happen. Its not as though Hull FC is a full time job anyway. He has James Rule and his cronies to do the day to day rubbish. As the seasons also overlap each other then Adam P. has the best of both worlds.

You could have had Kamel Ghilas ? At least Billy Paynter puts some effort into his game.

I'd rather have Ghilas than Paynter, even if he looks like he couldn't be arsed, at least he looks like he's played professional football before.

And he scored one and created one against AS Monaco last night(even if he didn't know much about the one he scored). :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I can't post why, but I believe he'll be on his way shortly and it's not because he bought Hull FC.

Don't want to go on about it but are you saying fanbase doesn't matter at all then? Any trophy a club wins is "history".

Absolute garbage. To suggest the past means nowt is ridiculous. History is part of what football is about, always has been and always will be. It makes me laugh that fans of clubs who don't have any history to write home about always disregard it. Smells of jealousy to me.............

We have plenty of history, Hull City have existed for 15 years longer than Leeds United, it's fair to say it's not been a very illustrious history, but it means as much to us as yours does to you.

I think the point being made was that history doesn't affect the here and now, the fact that you played in Champions League will do nothing to aid your performance on the pitch this evening and though you have self evidently been far more successful than us in the past, we have the better team going into this evening and we're allowed to be a bit pleased about that fact.

Debatable, I wouldn't say so but we'll see. I agree that our history doesn't affect how we will perform but that's not what was being said, he said we aren't a big club because history means nothing, which is ridiculous because 1. It means quite a lot, and 2. We would be a big club anyway.

Off topic but wheres the best place to park tonight i cant leave hull till 6 so can imagine it hard to find a space?

We've definately got the better team going in to this evening, if you had Becchio, Somma, Howson & Gradel then there'd be a debate but without them there simply isn't. If we were missing 4 of our best attacking players (and all 4 of our top goalscorers from last season) and you had your near full strength team available, i wouldn't even debate that you had the better team going into the game.
