Explain the difference between socialism and social democracy then, in your own words.

Or I could go on google and make myself sound more intelligent like everyone else does. Whats the point? I've written entire essays on socialism and old labour and new labour and the tories etc etc. Shall I send them on? Div.

The problem is the Tories have no right-wing allies except a few NI Unionists. So even if they gained most seats (but not a majority) they've few friends
to form a coalition. Even if May tried to govern with a minority in this situation she'd probably face a vote of no confidence and be turfed out by
Labour, SNP and LD MPs - and then they'd probably have a dabble as a coalition.

If that does happen I wonder if the SNP would accept Cabinet posts ?
If the Tories fail to secure a majority then May will be out by Friday night. Can't see it happening though.

Yeah, go on then. I've done peer reviews before.

This is my fourth General Election. I've previously voted Liberal Democrat, Conservative, and Green. I don't support a party. I vote based on what I think is the best option for the country at the time.

I've never voted Labour as I've never really seen what they have to offer. Just Tory-lite.

I'm voting Labour this time.

The Labour campaign has been about policies. Policies that benefit a lot of people. Policies with detail and depth. Their leader seems to be a charasmatic man with better morals and a better understanding of people. I'd like a leader who would try talking and understanding before bombing and invading.

The Conservative campaign has been shallow and full of soundbites. Very little detail about what they can do for us. All "don't vote Labour, they are rubbish". Theresa May has been afraid to meet the real public. Afraid to talk about any of their policies in depth. This campaign has really damaged her image.

I am sure that the election was called as the Conservatives underestimated Labour and thought they could sleepwalk into a larger majority. Hence the low profile, low detail campaigning. They wanted the general public to just tow the line. Unfortunately for them if there is one thing Jeremy Corbyn is good at it is generating momentum, generating support. At the start of this campaign I expected what the Tories expected. Now I feel a little different. I feel supporters of the Labout Party/Corbyn are far more likely to make the effort to vote (as shown in his leadership contests). I have a feeling now that they may just sneak it despite the obvious media bias.

Also my local conservative MP is a smarmy, bandwagon jumping waste of space.

Brilliant post.

I'm in my fourth too and I have no allegiance - I've previously voted Lib Dem, Labour and Green - and like you I decide at the time on merits how I perceive them. I'm not 100% how I'll vote tomorrow but I think I know.

As for Labour previously being Tory-lite, again completely agree. You can say what you like about Labour under Corbyn or indeed him personally, but even his detractors must admit that for the first time in a long time we have an actual genuine alternative option and that has to be a good thing.

Personal insults aside, I would actually like to read your work.

I've really got no interest in sending someone a collection of essays I did at Hull uni in 2008.

I did write one which at the time that I thought was brilliant and avant garde, in which I argued that Marx and Machiavelli shared a lot of the same views. But the lecturer thought it was a load of **** and I got the bare pass mark. Nevermind.

What's hilarious is that May will take your house when you can't afford to pay for social care.

That policy is flawed anyway.

I'm surprised nobody in this campaign has actually asked how the detail will work. For example, an elderly couple one of which receives care in their home.
They pop off leaving a bill of £20k for example. How's that going to be recouped when there's still someone living in the property ? Do they wait for their
partner to die and Executors sell the house ? What if their kids want to move in and live there, especially if it's family home ?

This policy raises more questions than it answers.

Don't be daft, Corbyn's like a ***** offering all the kids sweeties and they all say how nice he is - those who know best tell them to ignore him cos he's a nasty man but the thought of the sweeties is just too much for the stupid naïve kids

I could never bring myself to vote Tory.
LibDems are a waste of time.
so that doesnt leave much.

Again just out of curiousity why is that? I think it's barely even democratic at all.

It's a barrier to extremism. I wouldn't want BNP etc. getting MPs and a seat at the table.

It also stops situations where you have 30 parties all vying for control and forming daft coalitions.

Aren't people better off with it than under the current system?
