I don't quite know what your point is. I've clearly said that I don't think he's good but we're an absolute ****ing shambles of a club who nobody decent would want to manage and we have to cut our cloth accordingly.

In the grand scheme of things attracting a former international manager, who has won a league, got to a European final with an unfashionable club and was a highly rated assistant at one of the biggest clubs in the world during a very successful period, who turned around a club performing terribly in this division just last season and who has an affinity with our club is pretty good for what we can attract.

My point is his stock as a manager is probably on a par with Moyes. He'd be a terrible appointment.

And we're a terrible club. We should resign ourselves to attracting a lower grade of manager.

People last week talking about Wagner for ****s sake... <doh>

How are we a shambles? Off field matters aside.

First question any prospective manager asks, what's the budget? Second question. Who are you getting rid of?
Ehab answers them correctly and plenty of managers see us as an attractive job.
Moyes got completely ****ed over by short last season .why is that suddenly a good job?

We've just been relegated and our owner is widely regarded as a clown, but we have spent five of the last nine seasons in the Premier League, we've still got a decent squad (at least for now) and we'll have one of the biggest budgets in the league. We're still an appealing proposition, we won't have to settle for a second rate manager.

Well we'll see won't we but for all the platitudes of last week I fully expect us to have a skeleton squad on the first day of training and spend less than £5m on replacements. That'll put us way way down in terms of outlay and I'd be relieved to finish 12th next season.

    There's the key point.

And I don't think Sunlan is a good job, hence they're expected to hire somebody that none of us would be excited by.

Apologies for not reading the last few pages BUT please remember Ehaw said he did not want to continue down the 'recycled premier league manager' route. It therefore will not be anyone who has previously managed in the top division. That must narrow it down somewhat. I don't think anyone has mentioned an Egyptian :emoticon-0136-giggl

We will indeed see, but I think you're completely wrong, I think we'll get a decent manager who'll be given the opportunity to put together a good squad.

Ehab may be a div, but he's a div with a big ego.

Agreed - for all my antipathy towards the Allams I think, by hook or by crook, they'll appoint well and will make decent funds available to maintain and rebuild. This has been evident in every Championship campagin they've owned the club.

Failure to do so could mean their millions becoming irretrievable for good or for a long time, so they'll try to strike whilst the parachute payments give their backing.

I feel very confident that the manager will not be Adkins or one of the other usual suspects mentioned.

I think for his comment that "maybe a few from the youth team can make the step up" read 'a lot from the youth team will be playing cos we're buying no fooker'.

But as clearly stated, it's all guess work and he might prove me completely wrong. His dad did it before when sacking Nick and recruiting Bruce.

It's no job for him. The new manager has to completely rebuild a squad and needs all the knowledge of that division possible. It wouldn't excite them and they'll think I'm talking bollocks but I honestly think Warnock would be the best man for the job, or even a return for Mad Mick.
