And who of the Brussels' law framers are you voting for or against the next time they stand for election?

EU law has to stand for the next 26 months* then the people who have an actual democratic mandate to pass/approve laws can assess them. If they're just and necessary we should keep them. If they're not they should go. If we disagree with elected lawmakers and their assessment of these laws as they impact our lives then, when they stand for election, we get our say. Radical idea I know. Maybe the regressive left should be mounting shouty demos against it? I'm in Blackburn tomorrow if that helps.

*(Apart from any curvy banana laws. Repeal the banana immediately I say. icon_mrgreen.gif )

Perhaps while you're there you can recount the number of holes there are and if there's enough to fill the Albert Hall?

OK, the bananas one, we'll get rid of that - what did that actually say again? Oh, and did we vote against it? If we didn't, shouldn't we keep it?

    What about the other 55?

I've absolutely no idea whether curvy bananas was one of the 56 - it was a joke. Was it one of the 56 really? Really? icon_lol.gif You seem to think it was. I'm starting to think you may know more of this than you're letting on.

And I've absolutely no idea what you're doing here. Are we going through all of them? You seem a touch frazzled.

I'm sure you get the point Telford, you just won't address it. The bananas thing is quite often the example that people give about crazy laws (not a law at all of course) imposed on us by the EU.

No your point implied that the banana thing was one of the 56 laws you seem to be obsessing over. If it's not then fair enough but you shouldn't imply it was. You're still not getting (ignoring maybe) my point over the framing of EU law by people no electorate has returned and no electorate can remove. Now that is crazy. Bananas in fact.

If it is true then they're reprehensible morons. Yet again I've no idea what you're doing here, but if you want condemnation you've got it. If you're warning us about intolerance then I applaud you. Such should be always opposed, even if it's the intolerance of an undemocratic elite with their fingers firmly in their ears.

No I've addressed all your points. You continue to ignore mine. You are obsessed with EU law. I'm not. I told you way back, one law is one law too many. There's no obsession. I've had a lifetime to consider this and I reject the EU's legitimacy as a lawmaker governing my life. I was concerned about the accountability of the people who framed EU law. Since last June they've been rendered irrelevant. You never know Stroller, perhaps Brexit might be the best thing to ever happen to the EU. Perhaps you'll end up with an organization where you don't have to weasel around and evade inconvenient questions of accountability. I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.

How many British laws have you had the chance to approve or remove ? You elect people who then make laws - just as you elected the British MEPs in Brussels who helped to make EU. laws.

Actually the rumour that the EU. was trying to ban straight and bendy bananas was probably the biggest Euromyth of all. As Boris Johnson once said, when a journalist, 'Never let the facts get in the way of a good story'. Bananas (like all other products) are classified by quality and size so that they can be traded internationally (also for packing purposes). Quality standards are necessary so that people know exactly what they are buying. This is exactly the same for China or America, or anywhere else. 'Straight and bendy', are not banned - but a straight banana ? Bearing in mind that they curl up towards the sun by nature, a straight one would probably be a mutation anyway.
