Maybe you should read you link. Unless Burnley have stipulated that the offer is legally binding - and thus creating a contract - there is no legal obligation.

Acceptance of an offer does not make a contract, it merely states the intention to make a contract. I'm 100% certain your link will say exactly that as I recently had to go through all this bollocks for work.

Acceptance does make a contract.. that's what acceptance means. You're accepting the terms on offer. Acceptance can be in the form of a verbal contract or on paper.

As someone else said on here the other day, if he's done well enough for clubs to come in for him then he's paid us back.

And the club have completely let him and others down this season. They thought they were getting a proper crack at the PL and it's been a farce from day one. A complete waste of time. Why would our better players stay when they can go and play at a serious club who can field a full team and subs every week?

I've always been a strong believer in the 'there's nobody bigger than the club' sentiment - that no player or manager is better than the club and should hold them to ransom. But, at one point do we start differentiating between the club and owners? It's not just the fans that have been **** on this season and other seasons prior, Bruce was **** on, Phelan was put in a difficult situation, Diame felt the club had no goals or purpose. I don't blame Livermore or Snodgrass for wanting out when we have these ****s in charge. It's just calamity after calamity with the Allams. I've never felt so apathetic about the club and it's down to the owners.

Nobody - and I mean nobody - would've said 2 weeks ago that Jake was one of our 2 best players.

He is one of the best players of our squad and many would have said that. Him, Snodgrass and Dawson have been among the most consistent.

That means Ehab will loan/sell Dawson to some relegation rival now.

you are totally wrong
if a person makes an offer and the other person accepts it is legally binding then there is a legally enforceable contract
obviously if somebody says: "I would like to pay £10m but it's not an offer until I confirm at a later date" then that is not an offer.
"going through something for work" doesn't mean you understood
I am making statements based on my study of contract law

Is anyone else concerned that the club seems to need to sell to buy despite the revelation last week that they have a deal in
place with Macquarie Bank to bring forward PL TV revenue ?
Never mind the deal, I'm still confused to see us having to sell to buy considering we've gone up and down into the premier league. Not sure the exactly details with parachute payments but surely a club that gets relegated and promoted soon after is making nice money.

He musn't have paid much attention at work, a first year contracts class at Uni seems to have been more thorough.

The problem is that Ehab has such poor judgement.
He will try a low offer hoping players will accept but they wont and it pisses them off
He then realises that he better get what he can for them before their contract expires
This means that every other club that has a better understanding of football and people can jump in and get a good player by paying them what they are worth

He could have waited till the summer and still sold him for about 10m.

Who said we're buying?
Eeyores master plan is unveiling before our eyes.
He's selling the club, player by player!

Sale of the club - if there had been a deal with no caveats then it would have happened overnight.
Offer from Burnley - what's that got to do with anything?
You are just making it up and ignoring contract law.

Its a long time since i did law as part of my accountancy studies, but isn't the Burnley offer an "invitation to treat" ? which is not legally binding.

I could be wrong though........I hated law

More than they're worth. That's the way it is now.

"Invitation to treat" is made by the potential seller! Burnley is the potential buyer.

Wouldn't get 10million in the summer for a 30 year old with only 12 months left on contract... maybe all the players that have low buyout clauses if we get relegated are been sold off now

Now there's a point. What if Livermore and Snodgers both have/had relegation clauses for £5m?

It's obviously not as black and white as some seem to think regardless.
