I do find it funny that you claim I'm trying to be cool by posting music when many users post music every week... <doh>

But hey ho, that's your perogative. I'll continue as is.

    Cheers Stan.

I just realised another one for today, a newer one than the ones I normally post - Arctic Monkeys' debut album Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not is 11 years old today.

It was originally meant to be released on the 30th, but they moved it forward a week due to 'overwhelming demand'. I've never heard of an album being moved due to being so anticipated to the point they released it early... and, unsurpisingly, it was the fastest selling album in UK history and the biggest selling of the 2000s I believe.

If you magnify the picture right at the end of the clip you can see the motorcyclist hammering on the car's rear window.

Think you'll find it was the fastest selling debut album by a band in UK history, not the fastest selling album in UK history.

    Close enough.

Just read the top 10, and it's in there, and is definitely the best album in the list. Such a shame number one was so damn average...

Not close at all, a big difference between the fastest selling debut album by a band and the fastest selling album in UK history. There could be hundreds of faster selling albums that were bands second, third fourth albums by bands and bigger selling debut albums by solo artists.
The biggest selling debut album, single artist or a band was Susan Boyle's, which sold 100,000 more than the Arctic Monkeys. No accounting for some things.

It isn't definitely the best album in the list, that is just your opinion.

I've missed your pedantry, Castro. Much better than what greengrocer has been offering.

It wasn't pedantry. You wrote something which was totally inaccurate and incorrect. It was, as you wrote, the fastest selling debut album by a band. But you then wrote it became the fastest selling album in UK history which it wasn't.
Surprised that someone who has done media studies and had aspirations to be a journalist thinks that pointing out such inaccuracies is being pedantic. It also suggests you are not totally au fait with what pedantry is.

Selling loads of albums means nothing these days. The www ****ed all that. You don't make a penny until you sell out gigs.

Yeah, that's like, totally your opinion, man.

I've stopped taking myself seriously, maybe you should do the same. <ok>

Why are you like doing an impersonation of a hippy, man?

You are the one who takes things too seriously, Quill. At least as far as music goes.

Adele doesn't seem short of a bob or two. Lots of bands of little discernible talent nowadays have made more money in 2 or 3 yearsthan what the Stones, Beatles, Who and others did in their first decade. Of course ludicrous tax rates in the 1960s and poor management played their part.
