WE knew we didn't have a big budget, didn't we? We knew we needed attack and defense, as a minimum; didn't we? We knew we would have to sell, didn't we? So no scoop here then. :emoticon-0118-yawn:

We don't know the size of the budget. We're all guessing.

Only MS and EA will know what has been privately agreed.

Silva's said this morning that Jake will need to be replaced, he's concentrating on getting wingers in first, but Jake will be replaced.

I've no doubt that in some way he will, as it makes good sense. The difference will be that the replacement will not need to cover the same positions (except the key CM one) and that he can be inserted lower in the pecking order until performances move him up - it will be for depth.

For my money I think its a sad day.

To survive in the Premier League you need a decent squad as well as a strong first 11. Our squad is paper thin already and we've just sold a proven Premier League player to bring in 3 unknown entities, at this level, with two being on loan and one a nominal fee.

I think the Allams have thrown the towel in and Snodgrass will be next if we get an offer for a similar value.

Financial Fair Play does exactly the opposite of what it should do.

It stifles smaller clubs growth and protects the big clubs.

It makes the rich richer and the poor poorer.

So if we have no budget, how do we get the 3 (and more) in that desperately need without selling?

I didn't expect us to spend any money, I don't think most of us expected anything more than loans, for which there was no necessity to sell.

Presumably, we are now going to spend some money, though we've not yet bid for anyone as far as we know.

There's certainly more questions than answers at the moment.

Question:

Sell Jake Livermore?

Answer:

Sign a desperately needed striker.

Answer:

Sign a desperately needed right back.

Answer:

Sign yet another central midfield player of which we already have about 10.

The manager clearly didn't want to sell. He hasn't decided to sell to us the money to bring in new players. He has stated is a massive problem for him. I haven't seen anything to say he's get this money to spend.

However, to answer your question, the people holding the purse strings should be making the budget available or admit they've thrown the towel in, actually they SHOULD have done it in the summer before it was too late.

What is premier league survival worth financially? A LOT more than this 10m

But we possibly already maxed out budget. Huge wage bill, transfer fees paid, transfer fees outstanding that need to be accounted for. Where else do we get money from? Does Ehab pull it out his arse?

If we have a huge wage bill with our tiny, limited squad then that's incredibly poor. OLM said somewhere that it's very similar to Boro's wage bill. After all the players they signed and all the quality they brought in, if we're really not far behind them in terms of wage expenditure then we've been massively ripped off somewhere along the line.

We are getting a share of the biggest payout of TV money in the history of the game this season. Do you think our wage bill is massively bigger than the last time we were in the PL? It's not like they've all signed new contracts.

Also we just brought in 3 players for next to nothing so why sell?

That's what I can never understand
1- we have a very very small squad (by premier league standards)
2- we have a sensible wage structure (c40k /week max)

So how the **** do we have a wage bill equal to other clubs with 50% more players that pay more. Something's wrong here
